Long slog in from the Hog Springs Rest Area trailhead. Just a half hour to the springs, but at least two additional hours to get to the top of Hog 1. Probably closer to 3 hours. Getting better at route finding, though still doing plenty of turnarounds and false routes. The Exit Gully was the worst slog of all, my foot and ankle felt ready to explode. Bring on surgery #2. Canyon itself was nice, I think I was in too much discomfort, dehydration, and fatigue to really enjoy it. Also with the anxiety of wanting to get back to the springs with enough time to enjoy them. Which luckily I did. |
