Jacq, Elena, Caroline - Very low water when we did this, so only a couple spots where we had to swim. Very enjoyable, easy Canyon. Had a little trouble finding the rappel but once we did it was straightforward.

the Chains off the rock for the first real rappel were very hard to find. We started at noon and probably spend an hour looking for them. we found a group of bolts that allowed us to safely get down about 40 feet to the cliffside where the chains lay. BIIIG rappel to the sand at the bottom. Then 3 hours of slowly shuffling thru the river. Flow was approx 50 cfs. Got back to the car at 4pm. No wetsuit needed as it was pretty warm.

Did preferred route. Rappel from ledge was under 100'.

Did this when the flows were around 20 cfs. We only did one ~45 ft rappel to get into the canyon. There was a chimney before the river that could have been rappelled but we down climbed it. The water was warm enough to not need a wetsuit. The log jam mentioned in the route overview has been washed out. This is a very relaxing canyon and definitely one I will do again!

Loved this! Floated most of the way down, kept warm enough in my wetsuit

This is one of my very favorite canyons in the SRS. Having grown up in Castle Dale, the SRS was my back yard playground! One of the neatest places in the Northern SRS is the Mexican Mountain area where the black box canyons are.

This was my first canyoneering experience. I was a freshmen in college and a school teacher from CEU took a group of us through this canyon. Needless to say, it was the beginning of a LOVE for hiking canyons!
