Red Hill (Monroe) Hot Springs - Sevier Valley

Red Hill (Monroe) Hot Springs - Sevier Valley

Just east of the small town of Monroe Utah sits Red Hill Hot Springs along the side of, well, a red hill! The hot springs, also known as Monroe Hot Springs, make for an excellent place to soak and take in views of the Sevier Valley. Currently the hot springs are open to the public with a pit toilet and a small parking area.

The hot springs are piped from above, and come out at the base of a beautiful, mineralized flow. There are 3 small pools at the bottom. They range from pretty-hot-bathtub down to warm-bathtub. There is an additional cold pool near the base of the flow as well.

A few notes for visiting:

  • The area experiences heavy use. Please pickup and trash and pack out anything you bring in. On our visit there was a fair amount of trash to be picked up.
  • There is a pit toilet at the parking area to use as a restroom and for changing in.
  • The hot springs are popular with families. Bring your bathing suit!
  • The pools themselves are small and can hold a handful of people. We visited first thing in the morning and had the area to ourselves. By midday, many groups were showing up and the area was starting to seem crowded. Morning or during the week visits are my recommendation.
  • Dogs are allowed, but please keep them on a leash and pick up after them.

Getting There

In the small town of Monroe Utah, turn east on 300 North from Main Street (UT-118). Follow 300 North east for 1.3 miles to Red Hill Hot Springs. The last 0.4 miles or so is good, graded dirt road that should be passable by all vehicles in most conditions.

Route

The pools are visible from the parking area. It is worth the short walk up to the top of the mineralized flow for the views and to see the source of the spring.
