Roadside Attraction
Devils Kitchen
Flowell
Overview
Devils Kitchen is one of the largest concentrations of rock art around Fillmore I have seen. This site includes literally hundreds of figures along the base of a long basalt cliff. Many of the panels appear old and faint, but discernable with a close eye. These fainter sites are interspersed with presumably more recent and more defined panels. The panels are fascinating and stunning, but the cliff face they are on is equally stunning. The cliff band is a dramatic pocked band of basalt that is very striking in contrast to the open areas surrounding it.
Devils Kitchen is an impressive site to visit, and one I highly recommended. It generally faces south and a bit west, and likely can be photographed well most of the day. It is a great place to bring a lunch and plan on spending a few hours.
