Beautiful canyon, but I wonder if we missed the correct exit crack What we went up was a loose class 2 dirt gully that ended in something like 30-50 feet of either very loose/sketchy/exposed class 4 or more secure, but mid-class 5 stem/mantle, followed by lower angle but still very loose, sandy, sketchy class 3 ledges Felt way sketchier than the Larry exit, by comparison Curious if we missed something
Can you provide more details I have done the rappels in "the exit" canyon a few times There is no way you could hand line up either of them so I am confused by your comment The "tall crack" you described sounds like that standard exit
Did Wife 1 today 11/18/22 with a beginner All of the anchor webbing was in acceptable shape I added an anchor on a solution arch in the Rap 2 area to make for an easier rope pull and to avoid excessive grooving on the rock Someone added an anchor about 30' past the last 66' rappel as an alternative to DCing to the bottom of the crack on the way out Not necessary for most, but nice to have for those less adept at DCing This was a fun canyon!
If you aren't comfortable with that crack down climb, there is another way into the canyon maybe a hundred feet or so bad at guessing distance to the east along the rim It has a lot of bushes to get through initially, but if you head straight down towards the large boulders you'll end up closer to the arch
Three of us went through the canyon on 8/25/2023 Someone has constructed a nice cairn anchor at the first rappel location the 10m drop For the last rappel 22m, you won't want to use a fiddlestick or a biner blocker and tag line, because any knot will likely get stuck in the obvious crack during the rope pull Just use a single rope that is long enough for 22m rappel
Ran on 10/10/23 Anchor in good shape but the Piton is decently loose so definitely not good for rapping! We ended up sending the first person down single stranded on a biner block and I went down double stranded for a clean pull the biner could easily get stuck in the crack of the second stage all in all a very very short 15 hours car to car but fun canyon if you are looking for a time killer!
#conditions 4/14/2024 - I've done Chambers a couple of times, but I think it has become WAY WAY harder in the last couple years Seems like the floor dropped three feet in the first section, changing the nature of the canyon considerable In the first section, the result is a lot more hard upclimbs to get over very narrow sections, with the crack getting only slowly wider as you go up And then a raucous battle to get past the narrow section before sliding down to the sand in the next chamber, only to do so again And ...
Did the canyon on 04/22/2024 2,5 hours, great fun Going up the crack is easy All anchors are in godd shape You just have to look closely to find them A permit is requiered at the visitorcenter

#conditions South Fork, 5/26/24 Large party, 6 adults, 2 seven year olds The descent to the anchors for the 2 south raps was fine, we just took it slowly Solid anchors for both of the raps, webbing in place was in good shape The narrow section of the slot was very fun, especially with the kids, who loved it A few spots with water that were easy to stem over, great conditions on the hole Final rap is off of two bushes growing out of a crack, not the most bomber, but between the two it felt stable Highly recom...
