Still on the site, here:https://wwwroadtripryancom/go/t/utah/north-wash/happy-canyon-via-poison-springI have two different write-up since they are very different routes Yes, that area seems especially prone to errant cairns! Amazing petrified wood out there Glad to hear to spur road wasn't too bad I hope to get back out there this fall
I definitely get it’s a first world problem I just didn’t know it was susceptible to that much change until I saw it happen and then poked around the site to see their disclaimer When dealing with outdoor sensors this I’m used to winds, temps, sky cover, precip, etc where the data is more accurate and doesn’t get amended after the fact, so this surprised me…but I can see how the nature of a water sensor’s environment can lead to this
The Spiral Jetty was named the official state work of art by the Utah legislature in 2017 This work of art was created in the spring of 1970 by American sculptor Robert Smithson His vision of the Spiral Jetty was likely built on the north side of the Great Salt Lake to take advantage of the blood red color that predominates in the water of the very salty north arm of the Great Salt Lake where pink-tinged salt loving bacteria and algae grow Construction spanned 6 days using heavy machinery Smithson wasn't happy with...
There was only one section of ankle deep water when we did it, 10/18/2023 The last rappel is 95' and drops you into a clear lane between large patches of poison ivy Very cool free hanging rappel into a desert oasis We did the entire canyon with one 60M rope without having to take out the tagline Download the GPS track and have a good navigation app for the exit We saw three mountain lions just after we started the approach!
Whenever another app is mentioned, I have to plug the roadtripryan app https://wwwroadtripryancom/go/tripguide Maps and description built in one, and it supports this site that is hopefully providing you with information for amazing adventures! I've done Eardley in full and low water conditions I think full is WAY more fun! Great Canyon
May 22, 2023 - WOW, the change to the chains at rappel 1 are amazing; great start, immediately free hanging, fantastic job We did not find the bolts loose on rappel 2One of the bolts on rappel 4, the first small arch, was loose and I tightened it with a multitool Otherwise dry and anchors in good shape
Not sure if it's legal to park on the freeway A good alternative is to drive north of the UT SR 24 jnct and then drive west to the top of the cove There's a way down the west side of the cove down to access the site
