Canyoneering
Pasture Canyon
White Roost
Overview
Pasture is a classic White Roost Canyon. The canyon is quite beginner friendly, having relatively short rappels, and moderate downclimbs that can be well spotted. Although the technical slot section is somewhat short, it offers some great scenery. The standard exit is an improbable route that winds sinuously up from the canyon floor using several sets of cowboy moki steps. Classic! Pasture Canyon is not to be missed if you are looking for a beginner friendly canyon or are just out for a casual day.
Looking for a bit of a challenge? Hardcore canyoneers can up the difficulty by ascending the west fork. Beware, though, it is a bit tricky and only recommended to advanced canyoneers or climbers. (Exposed climbing to 6 m ( 20 ft. ))
As a bonus, the Pothole Fork provides a very short side trip to round out the day, or as an after dinner canyon if your camping in the area. Note, getting to the Pothole Fork requires a high clearance vehicle.
