Tick List

1 trip Blue John Canyon - Robbers Roost
Date: 07/13/2018
Did LBJ down main and all the way out horseshoe. Beyond beautiful, and we didn't see a single person the entire trip save for passing a vehicle on the drive back to the highway. Recent rains meant lots of water in the lower slots. The deepest pool went at least waist deep, but all could be navigated carefully to no more than knee deep. Clay at the bottom of the pools made each downclimb slower as our footing became slicker. Hike out was nice at least, as the washes were damp enough to have packed sand, and we passed by several families of curious burros. Overall an unforgettable outing.
1 trip Goblin's Lair - Goblin Valley
Date: 07/12/2018
We had lots of fun scrambling around on the approach, some minor route finding challenges going down, and one of the cooler rappels I've done. Bad rope grooves with nothing to protect them! Stunning cave, great place to relax and cool off before the hike out. This made a fun afternoon outing as an accompaniment to other canyons in the areas (we made a two day trip out of it).
1 trip Fins and Things Canyon - Moab
Date: 06/18/2018
Mandatory rappel and last downclimb had anchors slung around trees. Rap looked good, final (iffy) downclimb looked super sketch but held up okay. Nice little canyon, though probably not one I'd do again unless as a morning outing to spend the day swimming at the creek.
1 trip Pool Arch Canyon - Moab
Date: 04/27/2018
Great hike and rappels. Watch out for poison ivy in the ascent gully and wildflowers up top. Fins are stunning but highly exposed. Horrible rope grooves on last rap, best to rap/handline/belay down to lower bolts, clip in on direct, and rig rope from there. A 60m rope would be enough from there but not from the higher bolt (maybe 30' of pull cord to make it?).
1 trip U-Turn Canyon - Arches National Park
Date: 04/06/2018
Classic first canyon, cleanly bolted, great way to learn the basics.
1 trip Dragonfly Canyon - Arches National Park
Date: 07/01/2017
Medium water levels, all potholes had water (knee deep in the second and last one was deep enough to swim). Bolted anchors with long sling, 150'static single line reached comfortably.
