Egypt 2 Canyon - Escalante

We used my truck as an anchor. Next time I’m going to bring my rope sleeve for where it goes over the edge. The rappel that is noted as optional but difficult is pretty tricky, I’d recommend bringing a rope if it’s your first time incase it’s more than you bargained for. The canyon was totally dry. It was really fun. I had low expectations from the ratings, but it was a pleasant surprise.

Upper Red Breaks - Escalante

The GPS coordinates were spot on. It was a good canyon. It was in between stemming moves and waddling through sideways and at an angle. It wasn’t my favorite style of canyon.

Dry Hollow - Escalante

Really fun canyon that’s quick and right off the main road. I’m 6’0” and 185. I had to stem a lot of it. For the scramble out I felt it was easy, but for context I can climb 5.10’s outdoors. It was sandy and took some help for my partner to route find, and she can climb 5.9 outdoors. A hand line might help those who’s are less confident.
