Comment on Not Tierdrop Canyon - Arches National Park

Big Thank you to UWbroncos55 for his comment about all the rappels being anchored now Probably would not have done this one otherwise I added photos of the lower anchor points This route was turned into a fantastic one with the new anchors Its a great 2nd round after U Turn

Comment on Upper Telephone Canyon - Zion Main Canyon

10/26 - funny that this canyon gets so much hate Just because of the approach hike Enjoying the approach is probably a prereq, but it's a pleasant hike The highlight is a few raps in, excellent downclimb down a v slot if you have the technique, it's better than being sucked into the crack by the rope followed by a cool airy rappel, enjoy the view Bonus points if you can downclimb the slab at the bottom, but be careful or you might go for a ride Big R1 is cool too Some of the drops towards the end are easy dow...

Comment on Scratch and Sniff Canyon - Moab

4th trip on this canyon in about 5 years Atypical for Moab; not just walking and rapping There's a wide range of ratings attributed to the 3 steep approach sections My take:1st Moki steps out of the lower canyon - 20 feet on good holds and mochi steps, always three points of solid contact To me is exposed 4th class; not hard/too far to fall Can belay those less-confidentBouldering move where old Tree used to be: I've free-climbed this a couple of times after clipping the pin, and although short, it felt like t...

Comment on High Spur Canyon - High Spur

Id go out on a limb here and say its an insignificant obstacle The most notable parts were mentioned, nothing else really stood out to give beta about What I think you may be referring to, is the downclimb into a darker crack, and you'll have to stop and think about getting your footing right to stem above the pothole without actually dropping into it The canyon is a few feet wide here and has kind of a curve to it, so it makes for a quick challenge I think there is a photo of it here titled "The cold Pothole" We...

Comment on Little Death Hollow - Burr Trail

Hi, Ryan: Is it possible, after reaching Horse Canyon, to go north on Horse Canyon Rd first and then follow Wolverine Creek north to visit the Petrified Woods and exit Wolverine Petrified Wood Natural Area parking

Comment on The Volcano / Cosmic Ashtray - Old Sheffield Road

Road condition was totally fine 9/7 and we thought this was super worth the visitFor getting in the giant pothole, half our group did and half didn’t Those who did agreed that most of the experience is looking at it anyway and not to stress if you don’t walk in But going down the steps seemed much scarier than coming back up would be

Comment on Lava Tubes - Snow Canyon State Park

Agreed! We picked up a bunch of litter and glow sticks on our visit as well!

Comment on Pine Creek - Zion Main Canyon

We did this yesterday, April 3rd It was a cool day and cold water with a cool breeze that made for some discomfort at the last rap We, the parents and 3 boys 18,15,10, did the the canyon in 5 hours #conditions lots of swimming in the long corridors We were able to swim away from the wall in the cathedral to get to a point where it was waist deep so we could disconnect We found 3 solid anchor points for the last rappel We did option 2 since it was the first one found and it was a little exposed but felt like we ...

Comment on Rock Canyon Rim - Bicknell

How did someone give this only 3 stars!! Views, SOLITUDE away from the hordes of people down the road Had the place to myself on a Saturday! Gnarled old trees everywhere providing many interesting foreground and background interest for photos Beautiful red rock walls and formations Painted hills reminding me of the Bentonite Hills Well worth the visit! Comment on Gravel Canyon - Cedar Mesa

May 26-27, 2025 - Party of 2 backpacked into Gravel near the head of the main fork and joined this route at the confluence with the east fork, skipping the first paragraph of Ryan's route betaCONSIDERATIONS ON BACKPACKING THE ROUTE:On the first day, we bypassed the rappels and the slot narrows on the right, walking a slick rock middle rim above the narrows This required a bit of hard route-finding and 3rd class moves that were just a little too exposed and off balance to do with heavy backpacking packs We had to pa...
