Comment on Middle Echo Canyon - Zion Main Canyon
Just to confirm Ryan's comment, I had to do a pack toss to get out of the keeper in Echo I was a bit surprised as I was not expecting to do this, but the pack toss was super straight forward Seemed pretty tough to do a partner assist as we couldn't touch the bottom of the pothole Partner assist probably more doable with a group of three
Comment on Cassidy Arch Canyon - Capitol Reef
We did Cassidy over UEA in October The anchors were all in good shape: all bolts with chains and one sling around a tree I do not consider this canyon to be a beginner canyon because of the exposure, commitment factor big drops to start and no way out but down and the second rap's blind Having experience with long raps on uneven terrain makes Cassidy a piece of cake, but not a place to you can make a mistake Super fun route if you have the skills and gear!
Comment on Stegosaur Slot - Capitol Reef
Did this run on 4/21/17 Super fun We entered in from the South Fork Make sure you pay attention to the last picture 'The climb up to the first juniper tree' We passed it and had to back track to the entrance
Comment on Many Hands Panel - Escalante
I'd wondered about these for years since seeing them on the National Geographic map, thanks for encouraging me to see them out - the glyphs are good but the view is super nice
Comment on Baptist Draw - Southern Swell
Good canyon Baptist draw had several mid shin to knee deep short pools of water, but the rest of the canyon was bone dry Shame! We really wanted it to be wet The exit was really long! Especially since it was early afternoon and the sun was facing straight down that side canyon exit the entire time 95º - the canyon was fine, the exit was super hot
Comment on Mindbender Canyon - Robbers Roost
Done 9/24/2017 Canyon dry except two spots with avoidable water if you have good stemming skills Otherwise it was a quick dip in knee to waist deep water Super deadwoman available at last rap
Comment on Arch Nemesis Canyon - Capitol Gorge
Made it through the canyon today! Here is some beta in addition to the route description As the description eludes to, the only 4th class scrambling is from the ground to the first cliff band From then on, you are more or less just hiking until the start of the canyon I spent a while looking for webbing for the first rappel until I realized there was none I used a retrievable anchor on the tree to the right for the first rappel, so there still is no webbing Also used a retrievable anchor on the tree to the left for...
Comment on The Wives - Capitol Reef
Did a fun trip this last weekend and I really like the order we did them RTR descriptions were accurate to find the start of each canyonDay 1: Wife 4 and Wife 1 Good warmup to remind everyone how to do this canyoning thingDay 2: Wife 3 and 5 Super fun! Lots of sequencing and rigging for team efficiency! Day 2 extra credit: TOTGA High exposed downclimbing and definitely R rated VERY FUN if you like high stemming There is a slung arch about halfway down to avoid a particularly exposed move but anyone descendin...
Comment on Monkey Business - West - West Butler
2 ouf us descended this on 2/3/18 Took about 3 hours car to car The whole canyon was dry and the keeper pothole was super easy to climb out of We recovered a brand new 60m rope that someone got stuck on the first rappel, and then they cut the ends off and left the rest of it at rappel 3
Comment on Medieval Chamber - Moab
We did this route last Thurs 4/19/2018 Parked just before radio tower, hiked from sign just past it The "you are here" on the sign is incorrect, so somebody fixed it with a marker, lol Followed the white paint dots until they jumped to the fin on the right - if you go that way, you miss the mini-narrows, little chimney & downclimb Both sets of three bolt anchors above the Chamber are in good condition and use chain rather than webbing The set right down canyon have spinning bolt hangers, but the bolts themsel...
