Fantastic day even though way hot. Got in Friday eve and watched a beautiful lightning show to the east. No rain. The 2 of us started hiking about 9am which though early for us was still late for the heat. The hike up the side of the canyon is short but steep and tough. By 9:45-10 heat was brutal. There is webbing on the Juniper at the rim. No carabiner on it and the down climb is reasonable if careful. Maybe it's just there as a marker. The rest of rappells were all in good shape. Can...
Group of 2 ran it for the first time on 11/1/24 in 2 hrs 15 mins Ran it again on 11/5/24 in 1 hr 35 mins car to car R1: used a 30m rope lots of slack Bolted anchor off the big on the right LDC is solid There is a significant crack that the rope ends up falling into that causes a drag when pulling the rope Avoid by pulling to either side if possible R2: 30m rope again, plenty of slack Lots of rope grooves to be aware of on the pull, but nothing to be super concerned about Solid maybe bolted anchor off a big rock R3:...
Cool canyon but IDK if the bushwack approach is worth it Lots of small down climbs When wet there are some down climbs that are super slick banged a few elbowsMake sure to cover rope with a tarp or similar if you are going to carry it on your pack due to the fact that you will be doing a lot of bushwacking before the first 85-90 footish rap and if you are like me you like protecting your rope The webbing was still in good condition Also, I recommend having something to lay under your rope on the first rappel I wasn...
Did MMI on 9/28/23 If you’ve got a long enough rope, probably best on 1st rappel to have everyone except the LAPAR rappel past the 2nd stage rappel station with the chockstone platform then on down to the top of the boulders Rappelling all the way over the tops of the boulders takes about 200 feet of rope, but creates an absolutely horrendous pull I personally didn’t think the boulders looked all that “precarious” and the down climbing underneath them was very easy and not all that tight The LAPAR should rerig by s...
Mine Camp Peak is usually done for the sole reason it is a county highpoint Located in the Pavant also known as Pahvant mountains, the hike is a short less than 1 mile round trip affair to a summit overlooking the West Desert and lower peaks of the Pavant mountains Aside from being a county high point, there is not much to recommend it The trailhead is a short distance off the Paiute ATV trail, and makes a nice diversion if riding ATV's in the area The mountains are named after the Pavant Indians, a band of the Ute...
We did the shorter section of Das Boot on 04/24/2025 with a group of 6 and carried on through the Subway Decently long day, but definitely worth the extra effort! Approach for Das Boot was straight forward with GPS and didn't take too long We started the hike before sunrise, which I would recommend, and skipped the first rappel by using the downclimb to the right The canyon was super dark and cold with quite a few swims, but very beautiful! Doing it in April, we could definitely see our breath while swimming haha, ...
#conditions October 26, 2024 - We took a group of 7 people through and didn't come across any other people inside the canyon Took our time and had lots of fun There was a decent amount of water in the canyon from the rain earlier in the week Two of us opted to do a bit more stemming/bridging to stay dry the entire time It was fun figuring out different ways to stay dry during rappels, down climbs, etc One party member who chose to get wet--waded through almost waist-deep water in one of the areas Anchors seemed ...

Did this two weeks ago after recent rains Completely full; lots of swimming; no keepers But super stinky Thought it would flush but must have just added water Lots of fun, though smell detracted Would have jumped rather than rapped but couldn't stand the idea of going under the gross water Did once, regretted it Wetsuits helpful on 85 degree day though probably not strictly necessary No sign closing the last mile to the trailhead, though there were signs closing similar roads Not sure if BLM changed its mind or van...
Ran sneak on 6/20/25! Our first time running Imlay and did it as a group of 3 left from the grotto at 4:20am and got to Imlay 4 hours later without ever touching the sun, Took the right approach and found the trail to be in great condition and easy to follow up until the final slabs Only a few keepers we had to hook out of talons worked great along with potshotting across what I think was Big Bertha to use as a guided rappel Probably could have climbed out via the log jams but the potshot worked a charm Water level...
