Comment on The Chute of Muddy Creek - Southern Swell

Hey Ryan, awesome website and trip reports! Very much inspired by your blogsHowever, these DIRECTIONS ARE VERY WRONG, and confusing and led us to drive around for 3 extra hours The mileage you listed is off, and also, the take-out/put-in directions are reversed Tomsich Butte is the PUT IN and Hidden Splendor is the TAKE OUT We ran into several parties on these roads that had made the same mistakes, and there were several cars with boats on top of them driving down random roads in the Swell for hours We eventu...

Comment on Herm Pollock Slot - Paria

Ryan: The side-canyon you mention is the lower end of Bull Valley Gorge--you might add that name, plus side-canyon Your map shows it well MRK I'll be looking at your website more this summer--including the Bloody Hands Gap thing Thanks MRK

Comment on Bowknot Bend Viewpoint - San Rafael Desert

I have been a big fan of your website for a number of years I often refer friends to it when they ask about hiking or climbing in Utah However, I believe the Bowknot Bend route is missing an important bit of information: the specific directions to the lowest level With your map in hand and the gps waypoints you provide, we searched for two hours for a way down and could not find a trail, improved or otherwise, down to the overlook level I look forward to additional information -- I REALLY want to see this overl...

Comment on Right Fork of North Creek - Zion West Side

The time estimate of 2-25 hours to the top of the direct section from the Wildcat approach is WAY too short We were moving at a moderate speed that is consistent with time estimates from most other canyons on this website We were on a pace closer to 5 hours Maybe we were not used to such terrain with heavier backpacks, but I think most people would take far longer than the estimate for the approach hike, especially if also routefinding Finding the way down after circling around north again is not easy We had to cli...

Comment on Kolob Canyon - Zion West Side

Is a permit from the park service required for Kolob I know coordinating with the Water District is necessary, but I don't see any permits for Kolob on the Zion website And I know they aren't issuing any permits right now, but I don't even see Kolob on the list

Comment on Upper Greasewood - San Rafael Swell

Interesting, there was a road closed sign at the END of the road when I was there I tried to contact the BLM to find out if that has changed, but haven't gotten a response yet Will update if I hear it is closed Unfortunately, BLM doesn't seem to have detailed maps of the boundaries available on their website that I could find

Comment on Spry Canyon - Zion Main Canyon

Ran 8/14 conditions were good Only 1 unavoidable section of water Everything else could be avoided with some creativity and hard work Rap 5 had 2 sets of bolts 1 set down canyon left with pretty high exposure 1 set at the head of the drop DCR The dcr set had no webbing, so we used it to create a traverse line out to the exposed anchor Lots of grooves here but careful rope management prevented tangles and sticks Rap 6 there is some cord around the tree still, but a little up canyon there was webbing around a large s...

Comment on Boltergeist Canyon - Leeds

We loved this canyon I am sad we never did it before due to its low ratings I would do the 120/150 foot rappel for sure If you do the 120 then you can do a short 45 rap from a tree to the river Follow the gps coordinates on this website for a nice exit out along the river
