Broken Bow Arch - Escalante
Broken Bow Arch - Escalante

Broken Bow Arch, in Willow Gulch, is one of the more impressive arches in Escalante. The large arch spans roughly 94 feet across and rises about 100 feet high. It is spectacular and sort of pops into view as you hike to it. If you are an arch enthusiast, this is a must-do hike. The arch is spectacular, but I think the hike in is also gorgeous. En route there is a large, old rock art panel, as well as beautiful sandstone walls and a small stream.

This hike description visits Broken Bow Arch from the trailhead and back. If you have more time and energy, I would strongly recommend considering the Fortymile Creek and Willow Gulch Loop, which visits this arch on the way out. Though a longer, more difficult hike, it visits stunning canyons and is worth the effort.

Near the confluence of Willow Gulch and Fortymile Creek.
