I visited Short Canyon years ago to see the concretions I had heard were visible high above the desert floor. Later I was told of several excellent panels in the area, so Diane, Abby and I made a trip out to see what we could find.

It turns out Short Canyon is a gem! There are several interesting and large panels near Short Canyon Spring, with a mix of pictographs and petroglyphs. Combine excellent rock art with interesting geology and very photogenic house -size boulders that have eroded into Suessian shapes and this is a highly recommended outing.

Panel near the spring.
