Completed on 10/14 Followed the instructions and found the first rap within the hour of starting The hike up the mountain is tough but totally worth it On top of the mountain there is a lot of trails but if you keep going towards the canyon you will drop into it The rappels were fairly wet but super fun
The 4WD road is super chill No clearance necessary, a tiny bit sandy in parts, but very doable with a 2WD vehicle The shortcut exit has some 57ish moves You can easily provide a belay to folks in your party as long as one person is down to solo it
Completed Left fork 4/11/19 Group of 6 3 hours car to car super fun canyon for an intro to canyoneering This area is getting more and more popular as the years go by 6 or so total cars at the bottom when we started but we were the only ones in the canyon at the time
As far as the Road Trip Ryan App goes, it saved my butt a few weeks ago when we had to pivot and re-plan an entire trip on the fly We had been planning for months to hit the Roost for a 5 day trip but when we got there the snow was flying to beat the ban We got to the turn off on highway 24 and in the 20 mins that we spent trying to figure out what to do everyone says stay out of the Roost with wet or snowy roads it snowed over an inch Thankfully we had the Road Trip Ryan App and had the North Wash Area downloade...
Middle fork on 4/24/2023 completely dry It was more narrow and more physically demanding than I expected The narrows seem to go on forever Party of 3 took 5hrs car to car It'd be hard to move much quicker through the constrictions imo Super cool canyon and worth doing but be prepared for some exercise
did this route on 10/10/2022 - lots of standing water in the lower east and west forks, anywhere from ankle to waist/almost chest deep I'm 5'4" super slick mud throughout, made this not so beginner friendly for my newbie friend Beautiful canyon!
Though a mediocre hike, I can't think of a better destination in the western Uinta's This was one of my first backpacking trips many, many years ago, and still one I enjoy The destination more than makes up for the somewhat hmm drum hike in For me, the major attraction of Hell Hole is the solitude Though an incredible destination, the area seems to be overlooked by most Even on holiday weekends, your not likely to see more than one or two other groups, if that Two routes are described The shortcut route is by far t...
Our group of 6 did Cassidy arch this last weekend from the grand wash trailhead the scenic route is still closed in a total of about 7 hours 3 of our group had never rappelled before and the first drop took them a while to get over the edge Super fun canyon and in great shape
Did this hike today It's a good one It's almost easier to scramble than try to find the trail At the top, by the arch if you hike up the hill to the south, it opens up to about a half mile of class 4 scrambling On the map above it calls it Grey Points Super fun
Super fun canyon It seems that many people don’t enjoy upper refrigerator it had a lot of fun down climbs and rocks to jump around on Had to set a new anchor on the second rappel And it looked like someone had set new anchors in lower refrigerator Always a classic to have the long hanging last rap And much better than hiking down the trail
