10/7/25 The decent into the canyon is very slow going, and super slippery We used red rock shuttles to take us to the East Mesa trailhead You cannot start from Weeping rock in the valley that trailhead is closed It took us 7 hours from trailhead to the bus stop at temple of Sinawava with 2 people Great day and we wore full wetsuits 3/4 Walking out everyone in the narrows had on dry suits we were fine wading in ours and were not too cold, daytime high was 90deg
Ran this 7/3/23 Very low water The bridge was accessible on the deep keepers If using an ibis hook use a 3 inch hook or larger We used a 2 inch hook for me to rappel on It held fine but when weighted was far too wedged in to be removed from the bottom Hence recommend the larger hook The others above used a sand trap to get down There is good geometry and an easy pull for the sandtrap About 5 hours car to car Super fun canyon
1st rappel: Go down the left to make it work with a 60m rope and a downclimb after the rappel Be nice to the really soft rock and pull from the upper level and then do the downclimb It's super easy with a partner and a little butt scoot if solo If you have a fiddle stick with its own pull cord, going off the lip is kinda nice wrt where you end up at the bottom, but it does put the bolts in tension rather than shear which is less than ideal
Did the preferred route on 6/27/20 and had an absolute blast The CFS was only about 20, and the weather has been hot, so we found no need for wetsuits My husband and I are experienced climbers, and guided four fit but inexperienced friends through the rappels and chimneys with no issues The only discrepancy we found with the info here was that the last rappel was shorter than 35m We could have brought our 60m rope instead of our 70m to save a bit of weight, but it wasn't a big deal Better to overestimate the di...
#conditions Fun but very short canyon We did this in 3 hours, taking a moderate pace with 3 people The two rappels in the canyon are super fun and beautiful but thats about it Once you get out of the slot, you can walk 5 minutes to reach the main bigger canyon and it would be fun to hike up that a bit as wellthere was a small river running though this bigger canyon Both anchors done on 5/14/25 looked great Did not need to add anythingNice to do a canyon that had a moderate exit and was not strenuous!
Ran Sunglow AKA Red Canyon West Fork on 10/12/23 There was about 025 inches of ran last night so the canyon had a little water at the bottom of the 4th 60' rap but it was easily avoided All the anchors except for the last were in good condition and looked like they had been recently changed, but some could use a new quick link As I said the last anchor looked a little sketchy because it was an old school anchor with quite a bit of rust I'm not familiar with that type of bolting so it could have been super solid All...
Ran through Pool Arch Canyon yesterday, 10/13/22 Super fun, beautiful and straight forward canyon! It took two of us 4 hours car to car Both pools in the canyon are pretty full, almost up to our necks Webbing on the arch rappel was in good shape Last rap is pretty exposed getting to the lower chains, I would for sure recommend having a second, shorter rope to set up for everybody in the group to access the lower bolts
Ran this weekend 3132021 Totally dry all the way through Anchors and webbing were in good condition The last rappel had two anchors one at the chokestones and one with newer webbing around some smaller boulders on the rock face We used the non-chokestone anchors as the webbing was newer, but be careful with the extra quick link on the line as that made pulling the rope rather difficult Super fun short canyon and would definitely recommend it
#conditions Great canyon Super scenic Easy starts on the raps made it a good beginner canyon if you have an experienced leader Knee deep water in the potholes at the start We set up a guided rappel so only the first person got wet All anchors were bolted with new webbing 10 people in our group Mostly beginners Took us 65 hours The drive in and out was an adventure, but very doable in a 4wd vehicle Sand on the drive still has a decent amount of moisture to it
I just did right fork this last weekend and I haven't done left fork yet as there were 3 super big groups doing it and we didn't want to wait or get stuck behind them However, I would probably not take a beginner down right fork again The downclimbs were a little technical for someone who has no experience Unless they are a rock climber then it'd be fine I assume left fork is more beginner friendly Lots of awkward stemming and multiple large awkward drops of around 5-10 ft in the right fork
