Comment on Zebra and Tunnel Slot - Escalante
You can't go around without technical gear, as coming down canyon will require a rappel as I recall I've been in there a handful of times and never found more than about knee deep water By May it should be plenty warm to wade hopefully not swim through : Have a great trip, it is an amazing place to visit

Make sure to stop and visit the Golden Spike National Monument which is on the way to the Spiral Jetty They have a nice visitor center there to peruse, and starting the first Saturday in May, Golden Spike National Historic Site hosts Re-enactments of the Driving of the Last Spike Site ceremony on Saturdays and holidays through the middle of September Great family activity and fun for the history buffs in the family!

Fun side note, since we were pressed for time we actually hitchhiked a ride from the nicest man, who just so happened to be the property owner of that area Garth We had a great visit with him the entire ride up and hope to cross paths with him again

It is a maze out there! The directions go to the Tomsich the put-in first because I think it tends to be easier navigation wise and most groups I've talked to drop all boats and gear off, and have part of the group set up the shuttle while boats are inflated, etc I added GPS points to the driving directions to hopefully make it easier in the future Great float, glad you got to do it when there was decent flow I've floated it at just over 200 in a canoe Stunning!

Nov 14, 2017 Another heads-up: Gemini Bridge Road from highway 191 is passible only for a high clearance 4 x 4 truck or other A 4WD SUV such as Jeep Cherokee is will not make it up the first shelf unless you want to rip out the undercarriage Don't despair though, it is still possible to access this canyon from the west side of the Gemnini Bridge Road starting on Highway 313 By driving in this way, you can also visit the dual Gemini Bridges which are a short hike from the trailhead A short fun canyon with beaut...
Comment on Sheiks Canyon - Grand Gulch
Have not done this trail myself, but we talked to the rangers about the loop hike entering at Bullet Canyon and exiting at Sheik's They strongly discouraged us from doing that loop, as the exit out of Sheik's is potentially hard to find, there are loose rocks that are potentially dangerous, and they've had to do multiple rescues If you plan to do the loop, at least visit the Kane Gulch Ranger Station and talk to them first

Went through 7/28/2018 This was so helpful! The point of interest listed is actually just a big rock viewpoint right next to the drop-in point If you follow the three points above in order and drop into the drainage slot right next to the second point you will be on the best route The road was better than I've ever seen it, but I wouldn't count on that in the future The bolts were well placed and the webbing looks new Thanks ShaneW!
Comment on Chute Buttress - Southern Swell
One of my favorite hikes, did it 2 times already though I live about 5000 miles away Easy access 2WD if you walk the last 04 miles, obvious parking area, never boring, always some new small "challenges" and changing terrain, great viewsChanges to my last visit: there is now a "giant" cairn to indicate the gully you need to climb and a quite well cairned trail from above the slickrock all the way to the top A bit of the first dryfall crumbled on the right side, so the left side is now easier to climb around
Comment on Happy Canyon (via Poison Spring) - Dirty Devil

A few comments, having done it yesterday 6/25/17 The road to get to the upper trail head is passable by high clearance ATV is not required There are 2-3 spots you need to be careful, but with a spot you will be fineThe bushwack by staying on the ridge is not bad, however the scramble down to the first rap is very steep You tend to slide/fallThe point of "interest" mentioned below is a big drop, go to the RDC side and there is a manageable 10' downclimb Then shortly thereafter you get to the rappel I would say it is...
