Citadel - a fortress that commands a city and is used in the control of the inhabitants and in defense during attack or siege.
The Citadel lives up to its name. The ruin is perched in a dramatic position overlooking Road Canyon. It's easy to imagine the inhabitants using it as a lookout of for defense. Even the hike to visit it is dramatic, across a narrow ridge.
The Citadel is a short hike and makes a good morning hike if doing the other sections of Road Canyon. I've visited in mid-day as well as late evening and been a bit disappointed with lighting for photos in the evening. Morning may be the best light for photos.
