BASE Jump spot - Angel Cove Canyon

BASE Jump spot - Angel Cove Canyon

Angel Cove Slot is an interesting canyon. Its 2 forks, the north and the south, are similar with several short drops, but they have quite different characters. The north fork is more open, and a bit longer, while the south fork is more narrow with a few good down climbs, and drops more quickly. Each fork individually will take an average group 2.5-3.5 hours, but can be combined for a more pleasant 3/4 or full day.

The north fork is often fixed, with anchors and ropes at each drop. If you find this, please leave all anchors and ropes in place. Just upstream from where Angel Cove Slot meets the Dirty Devil is a large sheer wall, about 600 feet high. You will notice it from the spot above the final 2 optional rappels. People BASE jump off the 600' wall, then ascend Angel Cove Slot back to the trailhead, and depend on the fixed ropes being in place.

The recommended route is to go down the north fork, taking the regular exit. If all drops are fixed, and you feel comfortable re-ascending, then descend the south fork on the way back to the trailhead and ascend the north fork as the exit. Th recommended route makes for a 5-7 hour route and sees both forks with the most bang for your buck. Up climbing the north fork is the icing on the cake.
