Rappel - Yankee Doodle

Rappel - Yankee Doodle

If there is a better beginner friendly canyon around Zion, I don't think I've found it!

Yankee Doodle offers a very fun and casual introduction to canyoneering in the area. Though not as long, deep, or as impressive as Zion canyons, it has a bit of the Zion canyon feel. With only one rappel, and many opportunities to practice down climbing, it really is a good family friendly canyon with competent leadership.

Because of its charm, it is also VERY popular with both recreational canyoneers as well as guided groups. Don't expect wilderness solitude here. On our last visit, we reached the trailhead to find about 30 other canyoneers there. The canyon offers quite a few places to pass slower groups, however, so even big groups aren't much of an issue.
