Nankoweap Trail - Grand Canyon

There was still snow on the south facing sides of the north rim section of the Nankoweap Trail on April 15th that made for some tricky hiking. Poles and careful teamwork is recommended.  The campsite near the trailhead is in good shape but a campfire is not a good idea given the vegetation. The trail is as treacherous as has been described by numerous sources so please use caution and carry plenty of water since there are no sources until reaching the canyon bottom. The creek at the end of the descent has some superb camping locations and areas to cool down. Follow the creek to the Colorado River and be wary of all the high water trails if you don't need to use them.
