After the junction of Hogs 4 and 1 there is another tight narrows with a downclimb and then it's done It is narrow but nearly shoulder width, not claustrophobic The hardest/R- parts of Hog 1 are before the junction Not too hard, and super fun!
Done 1/16 All webbing in good shape, all mandatory raps had anchors built No water in canyon, little snow here and there but no issues with it Super pretty canyon!
#conditions 6-16-24 Ran this canyon with a group of 3 Stayed completely dry in the cathedral and no water until the 23ft rappel No wetsuits needed Took us 4 hours with one beginner in the group Super fun

Super fun canyon for beginners however I can't stress enough how bad the first rope pull is If at all possible double strand rap or use methods without a block You can also rap from two separate anchors as long as you are willing to do a bit of stemming to get to the second rap Overall best beginner canyon I've ever done so much fun
My wife and I just completed this trip We camped in N Salt Wash about a mile from the trailhead This knocked 2 miles off the round trip mileage Also from the cabin, we hiked north through the wash to the pet panels north of the cabins bypassing Swazy "summit", which cut about a mile off the trip Still it is a BIG hike Definitely would not recommend for kids or non-fit folks Super enjoyable The latter part of the hike to the cabin from the fence onward takes you through grassland with many large Navajo domes...
Don’t forget to bring ear plugs for the approach Wilderness is not an appropriate description for this area The canyon itself is super fun Flows well with 2, 100’ or 120’ ropes Please use black webbing or webbing that matches the rock color So not red
2 ouf us descended this on 2/3/18 Took about 3 hours car to car The whole canyon was dry and the keeper pothole was super easy to climb out of We recovered a brand new 60m rope that someone got stuck on the first rappel, and then they cut the ends off and left the rest of it at rappel 3
07/27 super fun! Quick couple of consecutive raps right in a row Easy entry & exit, water is avoidable Some of the rappels can be down climbs or short stems Good for a quick canyon
