Ran on 5/30/23, still some avoidable water in the second half of the canyon up to the waist Pothole rappel was completely dry Road is in great condition, canyon was absolutely beautiful The crux got a little spicy but super fun, and is definitely necessary to stay high The exit is very well marked with cairns and easy to follow Long exit, but not difficult Enjoy!!
I ran this canyon with a group of 8 intermediate canyoneers on 2025-05-24 Made it to the trailhead with a carefully driven Subaru Forester We weren't moving super fast but we made it from the trailhead to the bus stop in about 7 hours The high was 90F and none of us put on wetsuits A few of us had neoprene booties Water up to the waist was unavoidable but there were no swimmers #conditions

Did the preferred route on 5/23, flow was high enough that we could float the majority of the trip minus some butt and shin banging Not positive what the CFS was, we stopped at the river crossing on the way in and it didn't seem that bad Just checked the historical CFS from the date and it said 200 cfs, which in hindsight seems a tad sketchy Obviously not super reliable due to how far downstream it is butit was moving pretty good With some floats and dry bags it really didn't seem all that bad though YMMV of cours...
#conditions 4-5-25 Anchors were in good shape, but we encountered a handful of pools, one of which that I definitely did NOT fall into on accident was fairly large, but avoidable with some stemming The first rappel can be pretty sketchy for less experienced people, but with the courtesy rigging it went great Someone did leave a cairn anchor at the final optional rappel down to the river Super fun, deep, and dark
We did this on 4/11/23 as 2 adults and 2 10 year old girls It went more quickly than we expected - a little over 3 hours car to car We left a rope at the first rappel and downclimbed everything else Canyon was dry except for 1 puddle that was stemmable over for adults but not for the kids so we just walked through it and ferried them - it was only thigh high We have a lot of climbing experience but only about 10 canyons so far - the down climbing was super doable Overall really fun! Road easily drivable to trailhea...
Did you climb out on the left or right We were lucky enough to not have pulled the rope yet but we took a close look at the climb options Left looked easier and slightly less exposed but longer Right looked super exposed but only a couple moves to get out
2022-02-05 I completely agree on the awkward starts on some of the rappels Some that are not super confident will struggle with some of those startsThe last rappel—the big one— has a ton of deep grooves from rope pulls I tried to minimize my contribution by using a fiddlestick so not so much of the rope would be running over the edge on the pull It worked perfectly! There's a cool 10 ft waterfall on the exit trail before the very steep slog up to the plateau
Great canyon 30 minute approach, 2 hours in a stunning slot, 30 minute exit A little tighter than Middle Leprachaun, and a lot darker ! but super easy to go above any constriction Multiple exit points, great first 'tight' canyon Don't miss the dark chamber at the end!!!
Just to confirm Ryan's comment, I had to do a pack toss to get out of the keeper in Echo I was a bit surprised as I was not expecting to do this, but the pack toss was super straight forward Seemed pretty tough to do a partner assist as we couldn't touch the bottom of the pothole Partner assist probably more doable with a group of three
