Comment on Lost and Found Canyon - Arches National Park
We did this on 10/28 and took the advanced/climbers exit It had rained 2 days before, but was mostly dry - however the climbers exit had damp spots that made it super sketchy We used a combination of bolts and natural anchors to belay each other with a dynamic rope, and I used an ascender on a static rope slung around a boulder at the first ledge traverse Another group did the route behind us and we hiked out together They also thought the climbers exit was a bit sketchy, especially with the damp conditions I chang...
Comment on MMI Canyon - Arches National Park
interesting there was only the green dynamic, had a super short tail with a clove on the high courtesy quicklink- didn't notice it being super stuck or anything no red 7mm, maybe someone else took that If you'd like the green back just let me know, we just didn't want to leave it as trash in the canyon I'm in the denver area Glad to hear everyone got out safe!
Comment on Lost and Found Canyon - Arches National Park
2/19/2021, Ran Lost and Found with a group of 4 confident climbers/canyoneerers and 2 folks more fresh to the sport Enjoyed the canyon but it was really far out of the way for what you get Would I run it again Probably not unless I was already in that area of Moab, probably Anchors were good with all webbing and quicklinks in good condition My two cents about the climbers exit: very manageable if you have a confident climber in the group AND conditions are dry I was very stressed going into it I personally don’t ha...
Comment on Upper Black Dragon Wash - Central Swell
6/24/22 - This canyon is really fun! Super easy, super fun romp Would definitely do this again if in the area Like the beta says, easy to escape anywhere if you want All of the rappels except for the two stage chokestone rappel were bomber There were 3 options for the last rappel up on the high right side
Comment on Extended Lisa Falls - Little Cottonwood Canyon
Ran through Extended Lisa Falls on 6/24/22 There were two of us, both experienced and fast hikers with medium canyon experience The approach took us 1 hr 20 min and RTR understates how steep, exposed and dense with scrub oak it is We followed the ridge up best we could There were multiple fifth-class sections with a lot of exposure that required creativity in route finding The ridge took us within 50 yards of RTR's "Down" waypoint where we found someone had set up a 50ish foot rappel to skip some sketchy looking do...
Comment on The Subway (From the Top) - Zion West Side
Group of 4 did this canyon both 9/4/22 and 9/6/22 as both of the leaders scored advanced permits Ranger said there are 80 people allowed in per day, and usually only about 12 or so do top down Mystery, for comparison, only allows 12 people total per dayWe had wetsuits which we used and appreciated for the swims Prob could have toughed it out without, but was nice to have at least 2-3mm or shorty suit along withThe first obstacle was tackled differently each time I do not think the down-climb to the right of the lar...
Comment on Scratch and Sniff Canyon - Moab
Not sure why everyone dogs on this canyon, I think it is sweet and an absolute must-do Our group of 4 ran it on 03/25/2023 The approach is super fun and technical but nothing a competent climber and partner cant manage Definitely bushy but just wear long sleeves and pants All of the water in the canyon is avoidable with a couple stems The first "rap" is a sketchy downclimb but just use the rope because there is now a piton with a quick link The second/third rappel can best be completed in one swoop but uses almost ...
Comment on Granary Canyon - Moab
Did with a group of 6 a few days ago Lots of pools of water, most avoidable Only two were not There was a pool just under the arch, about 1 foot deep We took our shoes and socks off SUPER COLD water! The second unavoidable pool was on the last rappel of upper granary before heading over to lower The pool was only 15 ft deep, but one person went down without shoes then we set up a zip line for the rest of the group Super fun! All other pools we could hike up and around
Comment on Lower Eardley Canyon - San Rafael Swell
We did this as 2 adults and 2 10 year old girls on 4/12/2023 via the shortcut approach Super fun and beautiful canyon and the approach hike is interesting too! Approach directions were right on and we used a GPX track plus the Gaia app All pools were super full - we wore 4/3 wetsuits and were fine in the upper part but the kids got pretty cold in the section with the raps with the standing around Water was not gross! We have a 2WD sprinter and the road was regraded at the 13 mark so no troubles there but we stopped...
Comment on Angel Cove Slot - Angel Point
South Fork 10/14/23 group of 2, 4 hours car to car with lots of pic stops fun canyon for sure! The exit is super easy just follow the cairns and don't deviate All the anchors looked in good shape except for the second deadman We beefed it up a bit and put a new quick link on it as the other one looked Walmart brand After the Forks meet up we kinda thought we were done but there are tons of DC's after that are super fun and made the caynon! All in all I give 35 stars compared to some of the classics in the area like...
