Saratoga Hot Springs

Saratoga Hot Springs

I should preface my description of Saratoga (Inlet / Lehi) Hot Springs by admitting I have high standards when it comes to hot springs. I want something that is the perfect temperature, odor free, with a scenic view, not crowded, and I wouldn't mind warm towel service when I am done! Saratoga Hot Springs, a short distance from both Salt Lake City and Utah Valley seems like an idyllic setting for a quick getaway with the family on a stormy Sunday morning.

I found the hot springs a bit disappointing. The pool is good sized, algae floored, with a mud bank. On the plus side, not much odor and the water comes out of the ground at a toasty 109 degrees. The minus side would be the bandaid and dead fish floating in it. We ended up wandering the banks of Utah Lake, a stone's throw from the hot springs, and passing on a soak.

Note: As of 2019, the area around the hot springs has undergone phragmites abatement. Phragmites is an invasive species that tends to overwhelm native vegetation and affects water quality and wildlife habitat. The tall reed blocks views and is difficult to walk off trail through. With the phragmites currently cut down, there is easy access to the lake and excellent views along the path of Utah Lake and the surrounding areas.
