#conditions did this on Sunday May 25 The fixed rope at Moki Exit is not there, had to have someone free-solo up the wall and meat-anchor with a bush to get the rest of us up In the slots there are some shallow pools, approximately knee to waste deep Webbing/anchors held up a 230lb adult male
Two things really impressed me about Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge, near Alamo, Nevada The first is that the refuge offers free camping, with small developed sites that each offer great shoreline access to Upper Pahranagat Lake I was surprised to find free developed camping less than an hour and a half from Las Vegas, and happy to be able to find a site on Thanksgiving day though the campground filled up by the end of the day The second thing I thought was really cool was how the refuge pays tribute to and in...
Quite possibly the canyoneering capital in the US, Zion offers canyoneering, climbing, and hiking among towering sandstone walls. The park itself is a destination, but within a short distance of the park are many additional wonders to be visited. Hiking, road side attractions, and many big adventures make this a fun place for everyone.
I'd read the low panel is Khota Circus properhttp://kensphotogalleryblogspotcom/2014/10/daytrip-kohta-circus-petroglyph-sitehtmlthere are a few petros along the way out on the right, appx 3648787, -11419879 or just after
There's a sign at the start of the path that says something along the lines of "indigenous people have asked to respect them by not visiting this sacred site" I hear you can see it with some binoculars from the river trail if you want to view it, though I didn't try I would consider this trail closed
OK primitive camping, I doubt anyone would be around, so the dog running free would probably be fine It's about 35 or so hours from SLC In most seasons, the roads are easily passable by all vehicles This time of year, I would be concerned about mud and/or snow, which could make the roads impassable You might want to call the Vernal BLM office 435 781-4400 and see if they know current conditions
I have to plug the roadtripryan app here The description, map, and your location in real time all in one place without having to hassle with a third party app and gpx files! and it supports this site and its continued development : https://wwwroadtripryancom/go/tripguide Mystery is a great canyon!
I updated the site about a month ago with that info I called the BLM office in Hanksville at the time, and they didn't know the reason for the closure either Very strange given the work they put into the road last fall! Unfortunately I think the extra distance will deter quite a few groups It makes the hike fairly long for most
The Behind the Reef road is mostly fine, but there’s a super gnarly section not far from Chute Canyon off the Temple mountain road Conditions and skilz are everything, I guess, but it’s always looked from a bike way harder, narrower, and more off camber than, say, anything on the White Rim; might want to get on a 4x4 site about that first
YepI've seen 'public trust'BTW - I hate to say itbut it's not just here that word has gotten out This site is just a very, very small corner of the internet The HUGE instigator is google maps I'm seeing more and more sites added all the time Unfortunately, this isn't going to stopNot sure what the best way to deal with it isseems like the parks need more funding and need to take security of the sites MUCH more seriously
