Birch Hollow - Zion East Side
Date: 11/26/2017
Between rappel 6 & 7 there is an additional rappel which is the same length as rappel 6 about 9m (30ft). So there was actually 9 rappels! Did a mountain bike shuttle so peddled from the ordervill trailhead to the exit trailhead too 30mins. Then from the exit trail head to the birch hollow trailhead was 45 mins.

Rock Canyon - Zion South Side

Climb out of the riverbed was 50 feet short of the confluence with the East Fork on the left. Awesome route, took a standard Honda CRV all the way to the trail head although got some odd looks from 4 wheelers taking it so far in the sand. Always have a shovel and a pump in the sand!

Deadeye Dick Canyon - Zion East Side

First rappel can be walked around and down climbed on canyon right side (also exited this way too). Rappel 2 is off of a pile on the left. Bottom of Rappel 2 is 2 pools of water and today the water was unavoidable even though it hadn't rained in weeks. So this canyon can be wet some times!

Sand Wash (aka Red Cave) - East Zion

11/23/2017 - River was running to 1ft deep and unavoidable getting wet. There are two 2 sets of slots in south canyon turn into the north tributary when there is a small fork in the river. For the traverse from south to north canyon leave the canyon on the east side of the last grassy knoll and head to the west side of the furthers west cliff. The "two drop dryfall" we did with 45ft of webbing (doubled up) as a handline off of a small choke stone, the second is about 4ft further that the first.

Completed in 6 hours with 4 people. Description was accurate and the route went exactly as planned. The middle section is in the sun and would be a real hot one in the summer.

Lower Eardley Canyon - San Rafael Swell

Did the route in 8 hours with 4 people, air temp was 50s but the water was frigid. Worried about hypothermia by the end of the route. Left dry cloths at the end of the canyon was a great idea so we were able to dry and warm up before returning to the car.

Quandary Canyon - San Rafael Swell
Date: 09/02/2017
Completed in September with 20m rope and 20m webbing. Did everything direct. Water was super low so hard work getting out of some of the keepers. Returned via Ramp Canyon in the dark, the hand line was helpful under the choke stone but difficult with a pack. With two of the three canyoneer's being in-experienced it took 15hrs start to finish! Quandary was 11hrs and Ramp Canyon 4hrs.
