Comment on Hog Springs - North Wash

Thanks for the info: We drove by there today on the way back from Capitol Reef taking the "scenic" route The canyon looked promising but we had not time to search and just stopped at that trailhead to see what was there Never even heard of the "Queen" before, even though we have been to hundreds of sites in the southwest We just got home and I wanted to look it up for a future trip You have my email, drop me a line if I can return the favor Capitol Reef did not have much but got a few good tips on the way h...

Comment on Baptist Draw - Southern Swell

Thanks for the feedback This one is promoted as beginner friendly by many sites and books I'd hate to see anchors made more difficult, as it is likely to get people in trouble Last time I was though with a group of beginners, everyone was happy to rappel that drop!

Comment on Petroglyph Canyon - Zion

The Zion rangers guard this location like it is the Crown Jewels of England We finally found them a couple years ago While we love all ruins and art it was kind of a let down after all the research and hunting to find the petroglyphs are OK, not phenomenal We wondered why this site was called Petroglyph Canyon thinking there must be better sites in Zion/ The hike is short and sweet and there is nothing further up that canyon except a dead end Don't get me wrong, If you are in the area it is an EZ must see The...

Comment on Golf Course Panel - Moab

A couple of good petroglyphs but pretty much what I expected When the visitor center talks about sites they usually are not the top of the line But any petroglyph is a good petroglyph We learned of a canyon a couple miles south of there near a water tank we could see the tank from the Hidden Valley hike But unfortunately have not received the details Quite a number of petros is the claim

Comment on Hickison Petroglyph Area - Austin

This was one of the first petroglyph panels I had seen and helped get me hooked on ancient cultural sites  Great opportunity to stretch your legs, some good views and only takes a few minutes

Comment on Tower Ruin and Big Feet Panel - Cedar Mesa

We did this one last year and loved it Like many of the hikes in this region we did not see a single person the whole time This is not to be confused with the Tower ruins on the South side of 95 on Utah School Trust lands The over all view there is much better, but the tower ruin and petroglyph sites this trip is about are far superior

Comment on Moonflower Canyon - Kane Creek

Awesome canyon! Hike up stairmaster and follow the jeep road for awhile We turned off a bit early but we were in the same drainage and made it to the rappel The first bolt encountered by the deep pool has some webbing handline on it and it was easy to climb down The first actual rappel is just as big as described and a bit awkward at the anchor as the webbing is extended quite a bit Lots of webbing up there too so make sure you evaluate it and the quicklink is going through all masterpoints Would recommend two 70m ...

Comment on Upper Red Breaks - Old Sheffield Road

Not sure who's completing this loop in 4-6 hrs, but I'd love to meet them, shake their hand and get an autograph  Other sites beta show 6-8 if not longer My partner and I completed this loop in 10hrs on 5/22/17  We're newbies to canyoneering, but are rock climbers and fast hikers The Upper West Fork downcanyon is so narrow less than 2ft across for what feels like a half mile that progress to the rappel was slow  Walking sideways with pack in front or behind  The LDC downclimb to enter UWF was sketch, I thought it w...

Comment on Short Canyon - Moore

Got a back injury just after I posted the earlier comment All better now and finally made this trip a couple days ago WELL worth the hike but the bugs were Awful at all the sites in the area the first week in June They laughed at the Cutters we used Thanks again for the information

Comment on Natural Bridges National Monument - Cedar Mesa

If you are ever interested in going back to Natural Bridges Ryan drop down from Sipapu but turn right I know of 3 excellent ruins sites with pictographs spaced about a mile apart The second set at Sphinx rock is superb
