This is an excellent short hike and fun place to mess around in the water. There were two other groups there while we were hiking, but not too busy. Much less busy than the highway of lower calf creek. In summer this can be a bit brutal with no shade. The water at the end is very refreshing however!

We turned this into an easy overnight backpack trip with my 7 year old. Great hike, not the prettiest in escalante, but there was solitude. The arch is great as well as the Maverick bridge. My reason for 4 stars - a lot of sand and near the end of the wash a lot of grazing damage. There was water in the wash, but I wouldn't recommend depending on it - it was full of cow pies and brackish.
