1 trip Baptist Draw - Southern Swell
Date: 06/17/2020
The drive in was easy and didn’t require a high clearance vehicle until the least few turns/waypoints to the trailhead. The camping plateau is covered with campfire spots. The view is beautiful. The approach is easy and mainly downhill from the campsite/trailhead. Took our group about 30 minutes to get to the top of the canyon. The canyon was fantastic and easily doable for beginners. It was very dry. There were a few up climbs that were fun and easy. It would be nice to have sticky shoes for a few of them. Not necessary but it would make them easier to do. The webbing on the rappels looked pretty new, safe, not sun dried/crusted, and in good placement. The exit is easy to find since we’ve done this canyon on a school trip before. The hike out was up and down and up and down. There are a lot of trails and use them to find the tipi tower and it’ll be easy to find the trailhead from there. The weather was great. Sunny, a few clouds, a light breeze, and good 70’s temperatures. Took our group of 4 intermediate canyoneers 4 hours and 3 minutes.
