5/28/26 Did a run of the canyon in a group of 3 experienced and 4 newbies. Water level at crossing was only about a foot deep and slow moving--felt good on the warm day. First time doing the canyon--probably wouldn't do it much later in the season than what we did. Warm day and lots of sun/very little shade in this canyon--bring lots of water. If you're used to sandstone/slickrock, be careful on the rocks, a lot of them are very smooth and slippery. We ended up rebuilding a few anchors and replaced webbing at several of them. Looks like the sun cooks the webbing all day long. Used a fiddlestick on the one rappel where the rope pull looks tricky. A little under 7 hours car to car.
7.5 hours. Anchors were great.
Fun. Great Temps st george high 65. VR ankle deep at 90 cfs.
Took 6.5 hours point to point. River was cold but easy to ford. Fairly strenuous approach hike. Saw a tarantula and a bighorn sheep while in the canyon. So much fun!
very difficult approach with a 1500 ft elevation gain. rap 9 is sketchy as hell, it is just knotted webbing shoved into the rock cracks, definitely recommend a meat anchor. must cross the Virgin River at the beginning and end of the approach and exit. pretty cold, but you dry off quickly on the climb up. all anchors are natural so you should know how to assess anchors well, or bring someone you does.
2022- jade and I. Casual pace. Hot! But loved it
Great canyon
Lots of raps and that’s about it

Did with Mac, Bill G, Mark H, Zeke H and Phil C. Good canyon, at the last rappel went off a knot block
Actually started up at Portal, but that canyon wasn't an option. 8 people, 12 hours.
Gnarly approach, some sketchy dead-man anchors. But unique and fun.
Natural anchors and webbing were all in good shape. Canyon was dry and chilly. Approach is steep and exposed following the hike in the wash. Were able to move quickly with four people using three ropes (200ft, 140ft, 100ft) and knocked it out over 4.5 hours.
Went in thinking there were only 4-5 rappels, ended up being 17. Hiked out at night.
