#conditions Ran this on 4/23/25 in a group of 4. We only saw water in two potholes, the water level was just below the knees in the first and ankle deep in the second. Canyon was fun--we ran this one as well as the nearby Bloodhound to get some sandtrap and a little more partner assist/pothole practice. Weather was mid to high 70's and everything was really dry besides those two potholes. We took it slow and had a great time. FYI, I believe on one of the last rappels, a new anchor will need to be built if not using a sandtrap. I agree with kellyannbb about the exit being "bushwacky" for a bit. Last downclimb was fun. |

Ran with Full.lead.taco, Joe, Kimi. Was a fun canyon to practice using a sand trap. Great one to work on partner assist, sand trap, and just working on advanced rigging scenarios. Wouldn't hesitate to do this one again anytime. The last chimney is not tricky and is a great way to end the canyon before the brush busting begins. FYI-the mud in the main pothole is super sticky and easily goes over the ankles and wants to keep you stuck if you are the last one trying to get out. |

Great time with Brock and Allison. totally dry which was nice but it would be rough if full of water |

Benign is a surprisingly fun short canyon with some beautiful rock formations throughout. Some easy to moderately challenging downclimbs, and some required partner assistance. The approach was easy and only 10 minutes down a wash. There are two mandatory rappels – no more than 40 feet for rappel 1 and 20 feet for rappel 2. There were small pools of water that were avoidable. The exit hike was pretty easy and took about an hour. |

Fun short canyon that is great practice for down climbing. We did a hand line on two spots. |

Some fun down climbs. Saw no one else. Completely dry. The keeper pothole wasn't a keeper at all. Dry and easily climbed out of. We weren't even sure which pothole was supposedly the keeper until thinking about it after we were done. There were 5 anchors I think; we used 3 and DC the other two. Last downclimb (rap) was fun. Bushwack at bottom was ugly. Time 3:20. |

Absolutely dry canyon including exit hike, full sun almost all day. Pothole escapes were very minor - less down climbing than Poison Springs canyons. More beginner friendly than intermediate. Would not recommend this canyon unless done during late fall or early spring or unless there has been recent rains and you can guarantee there is water in the potholes |

Fun canyon, easier than expected. Mat almost stepped on a rattlesnake after a down climb, it was the biggest one I've ever seen, and you could really hear the rattle. Some cool down climbs, did the reverse belly slide down one. I did my first meat anchor on the first rappel! Mat, Evan, and Erik all rappelled off of my meat on the first rapp. "Keepers" were dry, and hardly actual keepers, getting out was no problem. Cool parkour spiral staircase on last downclimb. Lovely picnic in idyllic orchard at the bottom. Neat cow skull with toupé on exit hike. |
