1 trip Not Mindbender Canyon - Robbers Roost
Date: 03/30/2024
Did this canyon with Jared S, Bryce, and Eduardo. It was dry with a couple of small pools that could be stemmed over. There are some tight sections in this canyon with a fair bit of chimneying and scraping up yourself and your gear. A good canyon for intermediates. The exit is a bit long (last rap to the car was about 1.5 hours of quick hiking) but the 5.5 climb out was very doable. When we did it there was a fixed rope for those not comfortable with the climb. After the climb out it is quite a steep slog back to the car. Bryce set up a shuttle with his e-bike which saved us about two miles of walking and was very appreciated. From trailhead to car was 4 hours.
1 trip Maybe Mindbender Canyon - Robbers Roost
Date: 03/30/2024
Did this canyon with Jared S, Bryce, and Eduardo after we did "Not Mindbender" in the morning. It was mostly dry with a couple of small pools that could be stemmed over. I really enjoyed this canyon, especially all the high stemming required. This is a super fun canyon for intermediates or people who are comfortable stemming and climbing. 1 trip White Roost Canyon - White Roost
Date: 03/29/2024
Ran the West fork with Jared S, Bryce, and Eduardo. It was a nice little beginner canyon and a great Friday night warm-up before doing some canyons on Saturday. It was completely dry with a short approach and exit. It took us 2 hours car to car (Bryce set up a shuttle for us using his e-bike).
1 trip Imlay Canyon (Sneak Route) - Zion Main Canyon
Date: 07/01/2023
Did the full route starting at the West Rim Trailhead parking lot around 5:30 am. We were pretty slow through the first half of the canyon and reached the crossroads around noon. We hurried through the rest of the canyon and made it to the Narrows around 6:30. Shuttles had stopped running so we had the Narrows to ourselves. It was also high flow so we floated most of the way down the Narrows staring up at the massive sandstone walls and experiencing the majesty and beauty of that place with no one around but our group. It was surreal and unforgettable. Bryce wore the wrong shoes and was miserable. Team consisted of Matt W., Jared S., Jared S.'s daughter, Jeff B., Bryce and myself.
1 trip Heaps Canyon - Zion Main Canyon
Date: 08/07/2021
Started at 4:00am from the Grotto, hiked to Cabin Springs and filtered water, dropped into the first narrow at around 10:00am, got back to the car at 8:30pm. It took us way longer than we wanted it to/thought it would. We were first people down after significant rain and flash flooding in the area. Lots of debris left over and plenty of water to swim through. We broke a couple of "dams" and turned a few of the raps into a class C canyon. We went way to slow on the last rap sequence and when doing it again will leave a station chief at each rap to help speed things up. The scale of the canyon is awe inspiring, and the scenery/landscape is almost spiritual in it's beauty. Must do again! Team consisted of Matt W, Jared W, Jared S, Jeff B, Bryce B, and myself.
1 trip Imlay Canyon (Sneak Route) - Zion Main Canyon
Date: 06/18/2021
Parked at the Grotto, started at around 5:30am, got to the shuttle bus after the Narrows at 5:45pm. The canyon was extremely dry (drought year) and we only ran into three potholes that required any real work to escape from. One partner assist the other two we pot shot and climbed out. The canyon was less challenging than we were expecting but still challenging. It was a lot of fun and quite beautiful. Would do again for sure. Team consisted of Matt W, Jared S, Jeff B, Bryce B, and myself.
1 trip Neon Canyon - Escalante
Date: 09/11/2020
Did this with Matt, Jared, Jared's son Luke, Jeff, and Bryce. I don't remember having to deal with any potholes and the canyon was bone dry. The last rappel is awesome.
1 trip The Squeeze - San Rafael Swell
Date: 08/24/2019
Went with Matt, Landon, Bryce. It took us about 10 hours. The water was low and we tested Matt's Potsticker prototype. Landon bent it. All the keepers were escapable with a pot shot toss.
1 trip Quandary Canyon - San Rafael Swell
Date: 06/14/2019
Went with Matt and Bryce. It was Bryce's first canyon. We expected to have some difficulty with the keeper potholes but were able to partner assist or pack toss everything pretty easily. It had rained pretty recently so maybe the holes were just full.
1 trip3 trip Leprechaun Canyon - North Wash
Date: 03/16/2019
Did the right fork with Matt, Jordan, and Landon. It had rained heavily the prior few days and we all ended up getting wet up to our waists.
1 trip Blarney Canyon - North Wash
Date: 03/16/2019
With Matt, Jordan, and Landon. Did the right fork of Lep earlier in the day and wanted to hit one more canyon before coming home. Did the left fork.
1 trip Hogwarts Canyon - North Wash
Date: 03/15/2019
Went with Matt, Jordan, and Landon. It had been raining the previous week and there was some standing water that we were able to avoid.
1 trip Blarney Canyon - North Wash
Date: 06/04/2016
Went with Matt Killian, a friend of his and Landon and Janelle. Did the left fork. Matt and his friend were new to canyoneering so we went slow but it was a good time.
1 trip Morocco Canyon - North Wash
Date: 06/04/2016
Went with Matt Killian, a friend of his and Landon and Janelle. It was extremely hot and there were sections that felt like we were in an oven. Fun canyon though.
1 trip3 trip Leprechaun Canyon - North Wash
Date: 03/19/2016
Went with Brian and Landon. Highlights included Brian sitting on Landon's head, Landon and I craddeling Brian down a steep slope, and Brian's usual sour attitude making the whole affair hilarious. It was a great time.
1 trip Hogwarts Canyon - North Wash
Date: 03/19/2016
Went with Brian Merrell and Landon. It was Brian's first canyon. He wasn't a huge fan of rapping off a mini arch in a big boulder but he did it.
