The canyon was beautiful and the temperature was on the warmer side as we were exiting the canyon. On the way up at Longbow Arch, a Kingscup cactus was almost in full bloom. All anchors were solid. This was a nice straightforward canyon for a beginner/intermediate canyoneer like myself.

Ran with majority of landsharks (Tracy, April, Ellie, Tom, Judy, Carla and myself). 3.5 hrs. a bunch of new anchors in place compared to prior runs. R0 still on tree (we toggled); R2 has 2nd set of anchors now- the right set are friendlier in all ways- less exposure at top, easier start, less free hanging, slightly shorter; R3 tree anchor is gone, now bolts in watercourse on left with shitty stance/staging; R4 bolts as before.

J&F. Super fun, scenic place that is great for practicing new tricks. We used a CEM for the first time (on the low angle rap)! There are two sets of anchors for the big rap: the second one makes it all free-hanging.

Great time with Maddison squared on the Moab snow trip

11/02/2024

Did this canyon with 2 people, 2 hour and 20 minutes roughly to finish, fast pace during hike and slow during rappel. Two webbings at big rappel and chose the black one or the further away one. Overhang most of way. The closer or red one may be less overhang. 2nd rappel was like 20-30ft and angled so very mild. Not sure about the promised 60ft. 3rd rappel was alright, definitely need to be careful about catching on rocks and the trees. All webbing in good condition. That 1st optional 15-20ft rappel can be downclimbed but is a bit challenging. We managed fine.

Completed with Joe and Shelby, done in a couple hours on an afternoon. Mostly a hike, nice Longbow Arch view in the walk. Rope got stuck on the first rappel, luckily people above pulled it for us. Maybe try the first anchors just a few feet away. Walk thru a campground and a tiny bit of road to get back to the parking lot.

2nd canyon. Did it right after U-turn to round out the day. Super fun. Got destroyed by mosquitos at the bottom while belaying everyone else.

05/27/2023

Fun, simple, wide open canyon, that makes for a fun hike up to an arch, and then rappel back down to potash rd and walk back to campsite.

After the arch go DCL to ledge and rap into gully from a juniper tree. 100’ partly overhung instead of hiking down the gully. 2 rap stations at next rappel. Can we hike down and not do the next rap??

Nice beginner canyon with green paint taking you to the entrance of the canyon. Two bolts/anchor options. First option is nice and not a big of an overhang. Second is mostly overhang. We did overhang and got some beautiful pics. Rest of the canyon was quick and easy. Fun day with some new people in the canyons!

Actually took as long as Ryan says it does! ;) The views of the Behind-the-Rocks and La Sals are incredible. Easy hike in; huge payoff. A tiny pool of water that was completely avoidable after the storm last weekend.

10/07/2022

With John and Margaret. Explored the slickrock above the river, and down to the start of the difficulties.

05/28/2022

Quick fun canyon. Get there early to avoid guide companies.

05/19/2022

Made a quick stop in Moab to do this route on the way to McKay's wedding and meeting Kayleigh. Fun free hanging rappel to begin the technical section.

10/06/2021

A nice easy outing. Definitely don't plan on being alone. The approach trail has Large Bright Green paint footprints all the way up the slick rock to help your blood boil on the way to the arch and top of the canyon.

This is just a beautiful canyon, not a lot of down climbing or challenges but a pleasant hike and some big rappels. Enjoyed the afternoon with cloud cover. Great for a beginner canyon with a little oversight.

Quick run up for a Birthday Canyon. The really big drop can be done with a 65m rope, This rappel can be bypassed if you go canyon right, downclimb a big and then anchor off a tree for a much smaller rappel.

04/28/2021

Bela and I only. 3 hrs car to car. rapped the DC/R0 - sketchy! otherwise nice open canyon!

04/09/2021

Couple guided groups ahead of us. There is an additional rappel RDC shortly after passing Longbow arch. When the canyon starts to descend, head right up to the wall and then walk down canyon 30 M.

03/28/2021

Did with no rappels and just scrambling around the side features

03/27/2021

Hard to find the bolts. GPS and someone else’s description saying take the middle ridge finally got us there.

03/27/2021

Took a group of 20 through this canyon started in late evening. First optional rappel was good practice for those who had not rappelled before. First big rappel was cool, and with a 200ft rope you can link the last two rappels together for all but the last person to make for a quicker outing.

03/19/2021

First rappel was incredible!

03/19/2021

Did this our anniversary weekend was a nice mellow canyon and arch was nice

02/20/2021

Great canyon. From car to car it took us 4.5 hours with a group of six. Half of the group had never been through a canyon before. We added an extra rappel at the very beginning, as we didn't feel comfortable down-climbing into the wash. For the first (our second) rappel, my 60M 8.3mm canyon fire was the perfect length for the rappel. A spectacular free hanging rappel that makes the whole canyon worth it. The second (our third) rappel was off a tree RDC. Some members of our group rappelled and others down-slid it. The final rappel now has two bolts that are easy to spot. Great canyon, highly recommend.

02/19/2021

Awesome! Sweet rap!

02/12/2021

Easy rappel on the north side of town

11/28/2020

3 hrs car to car - nice easy canyon with Dana, Lara, & Mike. Last rap has 2 bolts which allow for a free-hanging rap - more fun than off the tree

11/01/2020

Carson, Elsa, and I did this on a MTB trip. Was a nice little short one. We hiked up to the top of the arch which was cool. Carson and Elsa crossed it and got a little weirded out. The rappels were easy but the big one had a really difficult rope pull because it was a big dome that the pull cord got a lot of friction on. Cool area and easy access to Moab. Took maybe 3.5 hrs but we messed around at the arch for awhile.

10/02/2020

All anchors were there and in good condition. The bolted anchors are a good ways down the rim, I can see how people might miss them.

05/25/2020

Great canyon. Easy anchor access. Beautiful view from the top of the canyon to the river and fins across the way.
