With Sam and Dave. 6.5 hours. Very physical up climbing.
So much fun. Great for taking people through their first canyon.
We really liked this canyon. lots of really neat narrows and small up climbs. would have been better if it had more than two rappels. took us 4 hours.
First Canyoneering trip in the Swell!
Bad day to be in the canyon. Clouds came in FAST. We got lucky and made it out no problem but it could have been bad. Was raining on us as we walked back to the truck
Done with Braiden, Sydney, Courtney and drake
Great canyon- would repeat. Cool rapels, with Caleb and Canden- 2hr 58min
Again with Kaden but much wetter. One small swimming section and decided to rappel the first. Forgot how many chockstones you have to climb over in Chute Canyon in the short route.
Baptist Draw- long route. Excellent place for beginners. Took 4 newbies on this one and had a ton of fun. Great way to get comfortable with reaching slack on your rappel. Very dry all the way through. Took us over 9 hours with people not comfortable downclimbing or rappelling. Still an absolute blast and all smiles. Cool day and finished with a 13 mile day. Did this with Collin, Keri, Kelly, Alya, and Sean.
Baptist Draw
Short route with Alan, 6 hours, wetsuits needed for chest-deep wading.
Very pretty canyon but there was a lot more water than expected hiking out the long route
Very cool canyon, super pretty and carved out. Ran into a lot of cold water fall â21. Wetsuits should have been used. Ended up bailing out the long exit of the canyon up a gulley
At least 3 parties in the short section. -sorry about the wait on the first rappel. Truly some of the longest and narrowest narrows, and upper Chute is not to be missed! We dropped down middle Chute, dry (only one calf deep water in Baptist) and got a little lost in overland traverse back to the truck. Did more vertical gain than we needed to but were back to the truck in 7 hours 30 minutes, so not a bad hike. I'm excited to get back and try the short route.
Went with Kaden. DCed the first rappel without a problem. Rap to Chute Canyon was easy off of the bolts at ~85'. Tried to go downstream with fixing lines back up. First big chokestone formed overhang that was difficult to ascend, Abandoned downstream idea and completed the short loop - very nice! Dry except for a few small ponds, one of which we had to wade upper calf deep.
Awesome bit of everything and beginner friendly with a mid length exit
Fun and straight forward. Really long narrows section. Hike out long.
Very nice. Exceeded expectations in terms of slot length and beauty. DC 1st rap. Time 4:20. Completely dry. Nice day, once out of the wind up top.
The drive in was easy and didnât require a high clearance vehicle until the least few turns/waypoints to the trailhead. The camping plateau is covered with campfire spots. The view is beautiful. The approach is easy and mainly downhill from the campsite/trailhead. Took our group about 30 minutes to get to the top of the canyon. The canyon was fantastic and easily doable for beginners. It was very dry. There were a few up climbs that were fun and easy. It would be nice to have sticky shoes for a few of them. Not necessary but it would make them easier to do. The webbing on the rappels looked pretty new, safe, not sun dried/crusted, and in good placement. The exit is easy to find since weâve done this canyon on a school trip before. The hike out was up and down and up and down. There are a lot of trails and use them to find the tipi tower and itâll be easy to find the trailhead from there. The weather was great. Sunny, a few clouds, a light breeze, and good 70âs temperatures. Took our group of 4 intermediate canyoneers 4 hours and 3 minutes.
Long approach for a sweet canyon. Long rappel which is best completed by lowering people in the party to ensure rope is the correct length. Easy obstacles once in the canyon.
Kevin Freya Insa and I went and did this. There was some water we had to build the dog a harness out of slings. Had a blast and even combined it with southern baptist canyon in the afternoon!
Super fun canyon we did with Logan. We did the short route because we were short on time. Both the actual Baptist draw and the chute canyon were really fun. Deep narrow sections with boulders to climb over. Follow the social trail from the trailhead to easily get to the start of Baptist draw.
The Bloody bloke evades capture
Great canyon. Bone dry. Took about 5 hours for two of us

First real Canyoneering. Wet suit and pulleys needed to transfer gear in a couple of spots. The exit is further than expected in the Canyon. Keep going until it really opens up and you see the rock cairns. A couple of false Buttes and trails to find the truck.
Botched the exit. Ended up very far away from the trail head. Great canyon tho. First technical slot.
What a great mix of narrows in this canyon. There were a few spots of water but nothing more than calf deep and we managed to avoid most of it. We took the short route, had some misadventure at the start that added a few miles and still got it done in 5 hours. Webbing on the rappels looks to be recently placed.
Did the short route. Fantastic canyon! Avoided all water. Looong drive out there.
Awesome day, favorite of the trip so far. Waist deep wades in Upper Chute - cold water! Road in was a bit stressful In the hire car!!
Venture off: short exit
We did the shorter route and it was excellent! A couple pools of water exist in Baptist Draw prior to the rappels at the moment. And one that we had to wade through (10 ft long, 2 ft deep) in Upper Chute. Someone added an unnecessary 5 ft rappel in Baptist Draw 10 minutes before the first rap. Thanks for this great trip report and directions. Spectacular narrows!!

I took longer option, down Upper Chute
long route
This was our second time through this canyon. We didn't know it when we first did this canyon but it was definitely the catalyst for our continuing effort to explore more of the Slots.
We had a great hike through the canyon with a group of kids and adults. 12 in total and we managed to get through in about 7 hours. Good sling on the first repel and new webbing on the second set of anchors.
First time in this canyon. wonderful.
Fun down climbs
My first forray into canyonering. It was awesome, though rout findingturned out to be a little trouble on the return. Next time I think I will try the short version.
Baptist and Chute (short) w/Mike J, Bryce and Alexander
Up Chute, peep peep
Fun group!
date is a guess, rained 8hrs. day before, TnR and is were borderline hypothermic, much better with no shirt and after the last (big) rap, went up Chute
Made it to the swim section and had to turn back due to the cold water
