Second time running this canyon. Made sure this time to bring keys for the shuttle vehicle. Ran it the same day as the Moab Marathon. Road to Grandstaff Canyon closed at 7:40a and we almost had to abort but were just barely able to drop a shuttle car at the Grandstaff Trailhead as they were closing the road. Grateful we got an early start. Talked to a guide enroute and he said it is a great canyon to run later in the day because the majority of the hike out is shaded in the late afternoon/evening hours and you will most likely have the place to yourself. Found the hike out lovely! but definitely hot near the end. Walked along a creek most of the way out. Rappels were both fun. No water at the bottom and a small pool on the ledge on the first rappel. Would like to try the anchors on the other side next time to try and avoid the water on the ledge. Ran with Ray, Brooke, Jason, Kyler, Olivia, and Eden. Ray added a little too much friction to Kyler's rappel as we had brand new figure 8s for Kyler and Jason and he wanted to ensure they didn't fall too fast on the free hang section of the last rappel. Apparently this is a popular canyon for guided tours. We encountered two different guided groups but only had to wait for one of them as they got their groups through fairly quickly.
big crew: rowan, kylea, clint, hien, grace, nathan, hendrik, jason
with dad, did simul rappel!! soo sick and super easy would do again. 3hr 15min. Next time start from the closer trail head at the radio tower on San Flats Road.
With dad, did simul repel!! Soo sick, super easy would do again. 3hr 15min. Next time start from the closer trail head at the radio tower on San flats road, or from a campsite.
do yourself a favor and park at the radio tower. It makes finding your way around a lot easier. This can be done with a 120 foot rope and a fiddle stick. Both repels have chain anchors. when doing the loop on your exit, choose the left to climb out of. not the actual climbers exit, but the loop of the other Canyon. I ran the canyon solo. One thing to note, for free, hanging, repels, and fiddlesticks you’re going to twist be sure to keep tension on the repel rope and untwist a Fields Stick line before it becomes a disaster..

One of the originals! Car shuttle or route find though the bluffs back
Dots, Flanders (Dana/Pete bachelor weekend) LONG slog out. Raps are dope.
land sharks minus A&E. did the simul rappel with lottes as my partner. scary but cool
Completed with Dillon. Can do a simul rappel off Morning Glory Arch, would like to try in the future. Bit of a long hike.
4 of us on March 19, took 3h45m car to car (we set up a shuttle at grandstaff), probably could’ve done 3hrs without waiting behind a guided group. Straightforward and lovely! The downclimb just before the first rappel had a big pool at the bottom, we scrambled up to the right LDC to avoid. Used a 200’ plus a 120’ pull cord.
Light rain, ends when it starts to get good
This was my 3rd trip doing this one. Great canyon for beginners!

Can't remember the exact date. Very cool rappel into medieval chamber, and off of morning glory arch, but the hike back out was long. Levity loved the rappel, especially because some kids got to watch her do it.
Very windy so sand blasted at top of first rappel. Last rappel was very nice, 1/2 of it was a free hang. Climb out was interesting.
Went approximately 8 pm to beat the heat. Was still hot. Long hike back to the Grandstaff Canyon entrance where we caught a ride back into town. Went with Tammy Tucker, and her husband Jeff picked us up at the trailhead. Total of 4 in our group
Nice chain anchors
So straightforward and so enjoyable - final tandem rappel was out of this world. What a joy.
First time with Richard, Anna, WW.

3 hours top to bottom going slow. FP great rappels. would do again.
Fall break trip to Moab with Ethan and Lily. Left shuttle car but then left the keys in the van so we had to route find through the desert back to our drop off car. Worried we might be spending the night in the desert. Wish we could have called an uber but we didn't have cell service. Not the most fun but glad to have a gaia map. Loved, loved rappelling next to the arch. So beautiful! Love canyoning esp with my family!
This was our third canyon of the day. We got off track when following the wash, but used the GPS on the app. The rappels are great. There were newly installed bolts on the left of the first rappel. Paper said they would be ready on 4/10. There are bolts on the left side of the Morning Glory bridge rappel. Ideally, you would exit out Grandstaff. We didn't have two cars, so we had to hike back around and it took a while to get back to the car. It got dark as we were trying to find the place to scramble out. It's a steep section where you scramble out, but easier than it looks. Took us about 3 hours due to the navigation challenges and hiking out in the dark. Would be great with the kids if we could spot a car at Grandstaff.

Fantastic trip through the Medieval Chamber. A little bit warm but not too hot. All anchors were there and in good condition. We saw two other groups of canyoneers. We took our 200ft rope which was almost exactly enough rope for both rappels. The canyon took us just over 4 hours to complete. Most of the group was experienced but we did have two people that had never done a canyon before. Highly recommend this canyon!

There's a slightly closer, more favorable dropoff point shortly BEFORE the one indicated on the map here. There are three parking lots on this road with the road getting gradually less 2WD friendly as it gets closer to the radio tower. Park and hike on the road past the radio tower. There's a sign with an indication it is the rappelling route. Follow the slickrock dots. Once the hiking trail re-joins the ATV/Jeep trail, resist the urge to go to the right and STAY IN THE WASH. The road will stay on your right for a little bit. There was plenty of braapers out on a saturday afternoon. 06/08/2019, 11am No water in pothole halfway down first rap. Tiny avoidable pool of water at the bottom of the first rap. There are some new bolts on the first rap so two people can go at the same time now! Road with parking and access: 38.582778, -109.495603
Vic, Lyle, Robin, Chaylee. Sketchy stuff on arch rap (unnecessary)
Short, casual, pleasant with car shuttle. Not much exercise but that can be nice sometimes! Better to rap on one line. First rap just makes it with 200 foot rope. Also take other line down with last person to avoid twisting.
Training trip with Andrew, Jared, Nathanelial, Bradley and Casagrande
Planned a solo trip but met an impromptu canyon buddy at the trailhead. Easy canyoneering with huge payoff!
First Simul rap
Went with the BSA Rozy's Rally 2017. Mark Hult and myself were the students/Canyon Leader aspirants. Also included Doug Folland, Brant Jones, and my son Jonathan Krummenacher.
Awesome rap down the arch!
Lovely hike and a fun day.

Short slot but worth it. A good warm up for the season and we did it on a day where the crowds weren't a problem. Dogs loved it.
Guided Nick’s PTA classmates down the canyon.
Medieval Chambers was my first technical slot canyon. While on a trip with my fiance and her extended family, I planed on doing the morning glory arch simul-rappel and having some of them join me. I used screenshot satellite images to find the canyon and we successfully did the canyon with 70M dynamic climbing ropes and simul-rappeled the arch
Crowded Memorial Day weekend, but still pretty rad. The simul-rap was fun. Climb out was harrowing and too exposed to make it worth it in my opinion. Would opt for hitching around in future.
did solo, tried to upclimb gully just left of the chamber, was off-route and could not make it, did it from top via setting a fixed line I ascended out after the big rap..
Sweet!
Awesome simul rappel off Morning Glory!
With EBBs
great rappels. easy hitchhike

Absolutely LOVE this hike! the simul rap of the arch is a classic! not sure many rappels can beat that one :)

Great little morning adventure.
Fun easy trip while in moab for offroading.
This was very fun, the simul rap is rad, and the tree now has a permanent set of webbing anchors as of 4/23/2011 but 2 ropes are still needed. The first rap is showing a lot of rope wear.
Did this one with Lee
Andy, Neely and Bela- awesome!!!
