Party of 5 - 4.5hrs with a lot of time lingering/checking out Covert Arch. Climbers exit was easier from nose slightly upcanyon/before cairn'ed path. Use fiddlestick at all raps.
road was impressively smooth most of the way in. only a few rough spots as we got close to the TH. very cool canyon, the raps are great esp the last one. the climbers exit only had two spots that felt a bit uneasy. other than that pretty mellow slab scramblin. the hike back to the car would be tough on a hot day. only took us 3hr with a party of 4 | gigi, mike, paige
Fun. Climber climb out was not hard at all. 5.0 scale
Short but fun. Highly scenic. Second rap is more like 27m and a doubled over 60 won’t make it to the slot floor. Climbers exit is manageable with sticky rubber, but serious - harder than the flatirons. Real free solo feel. Incredibly cool camping nearby. Lots of sand. 3.5-4hrs
With Michele and Jeff. Beautiful canyon, scenic, physical and interesting.
With Anthony Erica Sierra
With Colin. Took 3 hours of moving time with about an hour of breaks.
Beautiful views! Tough climb out. Very long hike for a very short canyon.
Great downclimbing through a lot of the canyon with 3 amazing rappels. The approach was easy. Climberâs Exit was icy and sketchy so we took the long hike out. Probably would not do again soon due to long drive there and long exit if Climberâs Exit is impassable. Took about 8 hours start to finish with 9 people, 8 novices.
Did this as the first of a double header with MMI. Super fun and beautiful canyon. Likes it way more than MMI. Coming out onto that porch before the final rappel after squeezing some perfectly brief narrows was just ð¤. Would happily do this again as a one and done. No second canyonâsorry, MMI.
Awesome Canyon! All stations were bolted and in good shape. Climberâs Exit was good unroped with 3 bolts through the most exposed parts. Trail back to the car was tricky to find at times due to blown sand.
Fun canyon with cool rappels. actually lost on exit- no gps. With canden- 2hr 32min
3.25 hours, 2 people with climber's exit
Lyle Lucy Vic Very Nice
Jenny, Kevin, Kelly, Mike, Liz
Jamien and Matt. Did lost and found and MMI together from 2w side: Start 8:40 Lost and found 9:40 Out of slot 11 Climbers exit 11:15 (break) Start mmi 1 Last rap 2 Passed climbers exit 2:30 Fish seep 3:15 Done 3:40
Dead trees wedged in crevice above last rap. Had to rap off of one to get down.
Completed with Dillon. Long drive around to the back of Arches. Took a bit for trail finding. Was very uncomfortable with climbers exit. Slabby and needed a hand line, lots of exposure. Beautiful rappels and canyon features, but climb out makes it nonrepeatable.
fun canyon, some cool narrows and rappels. exit was no problem without ropes, even with Sierra
Went with Kaden, Ron and Flo. All dry. Easy anchors with bolts. The big rappels are not to bad. Would do again.
Did this via the advanced/climbers exit with Sontian using an 80m dynamic and 35m static rope. Climbers exit was a bit damp and sketchy.
did with Tracy, Ed, Rachel, Oliver, Lottes, Lizzy, Tom, April and Ellie. great canyon, would do again! no issue with access. most raps had bolts.
Fun canyon with some little slot down climbs after the 2nd rappel. Got stuck behind a mammoth group from the Wasatch Mountain Club, (18 people in the cluster!!!) and was very backed up. Not happy with the WMC. First rappel is nice but nothing special. Second rappel was down to a log, followed by an easy down climb about 18 ft off the ground. But the third rappel is the one! All rappels were bolted with good webbing when I went on it. This is definitely a trade route canyon
Ran with the Kevin's. Had the place to ourselves. Anchors are all intact. Cleaned out a little tat on the final rappel. The climber's exit was not nearly as bad as expected even in Chacos. 4 hrs car to car for group of 3 taking our time, adding some side trips to explore side canyons and convert arch.
Climber's exit was sandy and spooky, belayed from bolts
Thanksgiving day! 5 hrs car to car with Dana, Lara, & Mike. Great canyon, that last rap is amazing. Dana got stuck right before the last rap. Did the carsonite post climbers exit - not too bad, Mike solo'd it and sent down a handline.
A second bolt has been added to the first rappel to make it redundant. And two bolts have been added to the exposed section of the climbers exit. One before the crux and one after it when traversing left. Just enough to make a fall not deadly. Great route and a must do.
Enchanting every time. This canyon has it all. Crew: Lisa, Anthony, Rachel
This canyon was awesome. It had some cool views of Arches and one of the largest rappels I've done off the "Front Porch". The canyon is pretty wide with a few tighter sections. Lots of good rappels in here. The canyon itself felt pretty short. I didn't like the sketchy steepish slab hike out although it is bolted if you wanted to make it safer. There was also a cool arch at the end. Took 4 hours with a group of 7. Would definitely do again!
Rap double line 2nd
Magical. Amazing stemming and tight slot canyons. Bolted raps. Climb out option is easy. Class 4 maybe. Canyon Crew: Ryan, Lisa, Anthony, Rachel
Top notch canyon! Everything you want in a canyon and so cool to be in Arches and see no people. Descended with Ryan, Jose, Anthony and Rachel. We were all nervous about the climb out, so we left a car to shuttle, but we decided to go for the climb when we saw it and that was the way to go. So fun!
Fun, very beautiful. Tricky downclimbing without a spot but fine for climbers. Combine with MMI - bring climbing shoes for 5th class Exit. Definitely take 2nd class Exit for approach and save 1 hour. Approach 1.5 hours, Canyon 2 hours, Exit 1.5 hours. Camp at trailhead night before would be fun.
A few wet spots, watch your rope
Awesome canyon! exited past climbers exit up dirt hill. potential covert arch exit?
Brandon and Morgan while river guiding in Moab.
Rusty and Ketner wedding weekend.
Really short canyon but really fun! Climber's exit was very easy. I would say 4th class.
Went with group of 9. Fun downclimbs. Climber's exit was no problem.
Fun. Nice last rappel. Climbers exit was fine.
Great short one. Road mostly 2WD accessible, though we did get stuck in the mud at one point.
Sweet!
200 and fiddle. All fiddle. climber's exit hump
Second time doing this canyon and it's still my favorite and still terrifying on that last climb at the end.
fun
Did with Drew and Matt. Fun!
exciting, somewhat sketchy climb out.
