Really fun canyon but lots of sliding. Harder than Arscenic, longer than arscenic. The final rappel is really akward if done in two stages but rope pinch risk if done in one. Arscenic is preferred, but this is still super fun. Can do arscenic and this in a single day.
Ran with Caylin, Peter, Noah, and Koda in 5hrs. The canyon was beautiful with some epic down climb sections and deep slots. It would definitely be worth doing again. The down climbs would be difficult with beginners that are not strong climbers.
Final canyon of Memorial Day 2025 trip. Awesome. Rappelled optional first rappel (100ft rope w/pull cord). Downclimbed everything but last rappel - set up rope for Montgomery and Max, I downclimbed the bottom 3/4. Definitely possible to downclimb the whole last rappel. 3.75hrs

Down climbed whole canyon, really neat one. Favorite out of the 3. Exit chill with the shortcut. about 1.5 hours probably. Would repeat. Cool slickrock camping at this TH, but windy
first canyon. down and up. very very fun
Upclimb
Super fun canyon, but sure shreds the clothes... did the first rappel and downclimbed the rest in a group of 9.
Super fun elevator moves, gorgeous
Super fun! Downclimbed everything except first and last rap. Great, fun day of sliding and downclimbing!
Lots of fun stemming & elevators. Amazing last rap.
Alex and I. My ankle was iffy. Did in conjunction with Constrychnine
With Morley
Hit it again more downclimb this time dry
Lyle, linked with others in area
Downclimbed entire canyon
Great trip with a group of 5. Canyon was dry and weather was great.
Phil has inspired me to write a bit more in my ticks. Second day of my trip with May and Phil. Mat stayed back but I am sure he could do it. We opted for no rope and with a bit of route finding managed to find out way down. The first 3 down-climbs are short but maybe the most difficult/awkward. The last 2 look intimidating but we’re awesome. Especially the last multistage stem adventure. Would repeat just to do that section again. The walk out was short but a slog because of all the hiking we did the day before. Phil is a good down climber. Guy we met at zero g said this can be upclimbed which sounds fun.
Ran with Erik after Happy canyon, Mat opted to stay behind. Didn't even bring the damn rope! Also found the correct down climb approach, much earlier than what Nicole and I did. Super fun.
Juan, Rebecca, Matt, Micah, Dano Fun sliding/downclimbs. Last rappell 15m then rebelay 25m
Very fun. We did the first rap. Possible down climb option on right side. No raps after the first. All downclimbable with partner assist. Do again
Short approach hike – maybe 25 minutes. DCR downclimb to bypass the first rappel. Once you’re in the canyon all rappels are can be down climbed. Lots of fun down climbs and beautiful rock formations. No technical gear required. Obvious exit up the slick rock DCL. Would be easy to lap the canyon or do Constrychnine.
Solo l. Car to car 1.5 hours

6hC2C, 9peeps,me,pie,toni/dave,kim,brett,brian,rob,kristFelix. Rescued tarantula. I dc’d 100%- thus only needed 100ft rope and handline. Next time take just these two. 60m rope was a pain. Nailed approach @25 minutes.
With Max, Ashley, Josh & Julie. Maybe the most fun canyon I've done.
Alternative to Constrychnine due to a short pull cord…thanks Wayne 😜 Wayne, Jacob and Kyra.
We down climbed the whole canyon. Super fun
Totally dry and easily downclimbable with some skill. We only rappeled to enter the canyon. Awesome canyon for working on downclimbing, stemming, and other techniques.
Did the first rappel. Down climbed the rest of the canyon. Whole canyon was dry.
Mo and Dani, 6:30h lot of stemming down climbs. Super fun, but awkward for new cannoneers. hike out not so bad. Would love to explore area more. Short rope good for new people. Can be hot. SUPER pretty and fun. Campsites at trail head.
Sat morning with Justin, Grace, Kylie. 4-5 hrs, probably closer to 5 including the full walk back (approached from the south and couldn’t get the car all the way). Some tricky nav & a tough-for-me slickrock climb on the exit. Very physical
2hrs, solo, no raps, some water
Dry harder imo than the other two
Super fun downclimbs, nice with no ropes/bags Did w Rick, Kat, and Joel
A new favorite!
one of the best canyons anywhere
Still a good one
Great time, fun downclimbing. Last rappel can be done in stages with a shorter rope (~30m) or downclimbed with caution
Even with first timers the downclimbs were pretty simple. Bring a handline for people that want one but leave the rope and harnesses at the car. This was my least favorite of the Poison springs canyons but it does have a really scenic and fun section near the bottom.
Yields well to many meat belays. The crux (big chockstone sling w webbing) can easily be reached, set, then bypassed to deck w 60â rope
Awesome canyon!
Fun downclimbs!
Dana Laurie Adam Flo
Tracy, Ed, Tom, Lizzy, April and Ellie. DRY. awesome canyon!
First Rappel at the beginning is it. After that, it is all down climbs. there are some spicy areas that should have a rope backup but are for the most part very exciting and doable.
date is a guess. Dwight Nancy Toni. plenty of rapping off my harness. beautiful.
Consistent, almost uninterrupted slot down climbs (no stemming or chimneys though) that begin and end with short rappels. Popular canyon - seems that families are targeting this one; you won't be alone. Don't bother with this canyon during hotter months - no water. Not a terrible exit hike but it does make you wonder if it was worth it
Completed Solo
no raps; with Scott
Took a group of (mostly) beginners in, and after a little adjusting everyone did great. More advanced members of our party had no issues downclimbing the entire canyon. We ran 6 hours even with a massive group, so I can't expect it could take you much longer than that. All dry for us, doesn't look like it would hold a lot of water regardless. Overall a very fun canyon with slotty raps, a few fun elevators, and great views on the deproach.
Michael ensign, his dad Scott, and chase Fowers. Cruised through. Finished in around 3 hours. 1st poison canyon of the day. All have way fun downclimbs and rappels.
4hrs 40min (Adam)
Dry. Experienced canyoneers comfortable with down climbing can down climb entire canyon. Final rappel can be done with a handline for those with experience.
A little difficult navigating to the head of the canyon but we figured it out eventually. Rappelled twice and downclimbed the rest. It was a hot hike out, so bring lots of water in summer!
approx. date . did with Constrycnine
Fun downclimbing and great exit from the last crack!
w/John and Owen
our favorite
Did with Bence after doing arsenic. Was able to down climb the whole thing and then did the climbers exit. though we may have bypassed the climbing some how? we never saw a deadfall or felt like we were climbing.
loved it! great climbs
Did with Lauren, Dave, Coop dog, Clint, Niels, and Maizy. Fun canyon! First I've done in Poison Springs. Hellacious drive in and my car needed to be towed through the sand whoop halfpipe. Whole group downclimbed entire canyon after entry rappel, with me leading a good chunk of it. Spots required, but nothing too high consequence. Really fun!
Did the whole thing without doing any rappels. wouldn't bring a big rope next time.
