So glad to have both Brooke and Ellen on this trip. Ellen is my brave canyoneer who is always willing to descend first. Brooke would also be happy to descend first but she waits patiently to the last and helps Ray carry the rope bag. Planned and fretted for weeks about this trip because of all the betas about being cold. Ended up using a 4/3 wet suit and was still cold whenever not moving, ie waiting for my turn to rappel or waiting for others to rappel. Lots of bouldering, downclimbing on the exit. Took us 8 hrs from start to finish with a group of six. Lots of awkward starts on rappels. Ray did an excellent job of guiding our group. Felt very safe at all times. Ray, Laura, Brooke, Ellen, Olivia and Eden.

Group of 9, including Trevor, Adam Steward, Scott and Megan Whiting, Jack Johnson, Michael Johnson, Crystal and Braden ? Descended Pine Creek on a very very hot day in Zion. We met at the Maverik in LaVerkin at 0800 and were on our way to the main gate by 0820. It took us about 15 minutes to get through the gate. We then met at the 2nd switchback and left ours and Adam's car and piled in with Scott and Megan. We geared up and were on our way downcanyon around 0915. We saw water in the 1st pot hole, so we donned wetsuits and hurredly rapped the first drop/downclimb where we were able to get cooled off. The next rap was off the new glue in anchor. The pothole that we could stand in and clip in was scoured out so we had to balance on the fin which was sketchy for some. The next rap was from a log. The next rap is the magnificent cathredral room with the 2 arches. I totally didn't get a chance to really enjoy this on the last trip. I made sure that I didn't make that mistake again. The water was only waist deep at most with a gravel bar exposed in the middle. The hallway was only waste deep at most with no swimming. Amazing to see what we were swimming over. We did take about 15 minutes to take in the unbelievable beauty of the light filtering down. It changed while we were watching. We came to the next rap that was only 15' before but was now about 35' because of no water. The next rap was the penultimate rap down the slab on the right. We had already removed the wetsuits by then and was starting to get warm. We single roped this one. We went to the last rap and used the alternate bolts in the watercourse which deposited us in the alcove room with a spring. Nice rap, but very airy. I had my friction dialed in and enjoyed a carefree ride down the rope. Scott and Megan set up all the rappels and were out front the entire time. Trevor and Adam kinda floated, sometimes in front, sometimes in back. I was the last to rappel every rap and was left with the responsibility to make sure the novice members of our group were clipped in correctly. Funny that the couple who caught up to us at the final rap asked if I was a "guide". I told them that I was kind of a guide. We spent a while at the spring and pool enjoying lunch and a cool spot before we embarked on the unpleasant boulder navigation that lay ahead. We did finally get to a spot that we had to actually swim which was refreshing. Trevor mentioned that he was excited to get to the swimming hole and was hoping there would be some "scantily clad girls" there. He wasn't disappointed. We climbed out and didn't even get checked for our papers. Trevor drove Scott and Megan and Adam drove Braden through the tunnel to retrieve the cars while we basked in the scortching hot sun!

Very dry. Driest I’ve seen it yet.

Kylie, Rob, Kate - exit was pretty exhausting

Fun last canyon of our trip. Lucked out with a parking spot right at the top, only had to wait a few mins. Lots of water, not too manky due to recent rain/flash. I got a little cold with my 4/3 wetsuit but worth it. Cathedral and flute caverns were amazing! we did a meat anchor and partner assist for last drop out of the last one. Hike out was very meandering but not too bad. Done in 5 hrs with 6 ppl (Ed, Tom, April, Ellie, Chris, Myself)

This was by far the best slot canyon in Zions. It had everything you could want. 15-99 ft rappel’s that literally took your breath away, cold swims, high narrow passages carved to protection.

Super full. But lots of sand as well. So not a ton of swimmers.

10/14/2021
Came down for Redbull Rampage. My wife needed the truck so i rode my MTB the 17 miles in from the hotel in Virgin, UT. Stashed the bike at the exit trail and caught a ride from some fellow canyoneers wrapping up PC to the top. Canyon was very full and very cold. Much more so than last month. Wore a 4/3 full and a 3mm shorty over it. 10mm dive boots throughout and used my 5mm dive gloves during the long swims just to keep my hands safe especially since i was going solo. Wind was blasting during the final two raps making me feel like i had Parkinson's. 2 hours and 20 min from start to finish. 6.25 hours from hotel to hotel. SAR was out conducting practice ops at the final rap out of the tunnel window. Fun day.

09/05/2021
With Sam. Tippy top full, no challenges just swims. I was fine in a 4/3 and booties, Sam was cold in a 3/2 and tennies. Mostly had it to ourselves. beautiful.

08/30/2021
Super full and super fun. Gotta love the last rappell

08/15/2021
Really full. 4/3’s required. Those with farmer Johns were pretty cold.

07/03/2021
5 folks, didn't see anyone until the last rap. Water quality was actually good, low but not stinky. Anchors good. The final rap. Great canyon! 4 1/2 hours.

About 150 feet or so down canyon of the last rappel the canyon starts to widen out and is full of boulder debris to scramble down. Look for a way to scramble up out of the wash on the left (south) side. There are multiple ways to get up to the use trail and the first part of the use trail is a bit difficult to find. This makes it difficult to give a perfect description of how to locate it. In general look for foot traffic areas and keep going up the left (south) side of the canyon toward the base of the cliff. You will soon find a well defined use trail to follow. Follow the use trail along the left side of the canyon. A few spots will be difficult to see and stay on but for the most part this route is very easy travel and much nicer than the wash below. About 0.3 miles from the last rappel, the trail will cross over a drainage (wPineCreekRP-3). When you drop down into the drainage you will need to climb up the other side to continue. The route up is very steep and you may start to wonder if if up the other side is better than going up or down this drainage. Climb up the other side up the steep packed dirt and use a series of twisted tree roots to hold onto for assistance. After climbing up out of the drainage, continue on the trail for about 0.4 miles to the parking spot for the exit option 2 (pkPineCreekBT2). Before getting to the parking spot you will be able to see it from the trail with a large drainage between. The trail will skirt around the large drainage as it works over to the car.

w chris, alec, andrew, quinn. Fun canyon! definitely re-doable. cold swims, cool rappels, nice swimming hole at the end. take off wetsuit after last rappel. Also good idea to keep someone at first stage of last 2 stage rappel for a proper belay.

05/02/2021
Awesome. Very wet, very cold water. I thought the first pool was going to be about a foot deep. I eased in and disappeared! Glad I had my THICK wetsuit on. Super cool canyon.

Started at 9 am. Mark Hartner, Alysen Guadagnin, Jennica Krummenacher, Josh Olcott. Got the rope stuck on the first rappel, had to make a human ladder to retrieve it. Ran across SAR doing a training session by the last rappel. Water was very low, Cathedral was a semi keeper pothole, but Mark was able to climb out an bring the rest of us out.

11/03/2019
CO-guided group of 12. Was able to bypass water at cathedral by staying right through arch. No other water in canyon. Want to do again when wet.

5 of us went through, had groups ahead and behind us but kept in rhythm much of the way. Water is low, look for multi stages raps due to the water level. Beautiful narrows and already fun canyon. Bouldering is a navigation challenging at the top of the exit. Full Wetsuits were used and enjoyed by all.

3.5 hours, 4 people, very full from monsoon season, so beautiful and fun. a couple new or changed obstacles. one of my favorite runs of any canyon ever

08/25/2018

08/17/2018
Great canyon. I took a group of 4 through, two of which were cold even in wet suits while two of us we're just fine without them. So if you are particularly warm blooded (and it is hot out) you shouldn't have a problem but if you get cold easily make sure you bring a wet suit.

07/13/2018
pretty empty. lots of people from work, lots of beginners, very stressful, long day. other option for final rap is better

Scott,Alan,Joel,DJ and I finished up our Zion trip with Pine Creek, This canyon is so cool, Lots of cool canyon walls bridges, and formations.. I would love to take Whit in this canyon. Lots of cold water, I only wore my 3 mm full wetsuit and felt fine, but DJ was cold only wearing his 3 mm full. This canyon requires a shuttle. lots of boulders to climb on the exit but fairly easy.

01/01/2017
Were sandwiched in between two annoying groups and the climb out was long and very cold in the shade even in heavy wet suit bring a change of clothes next time. and needed permit. But pretty and glad we did it! The one group had a neat rope bag where they only used as much length as needed and tied off the rest and it was a skinny rope awesome set up

08/05/2005
Had a wetsuit this time and it was far more enjoyable comfort wise. This is still my favorite canyon.

07/01/2003
Wish I would've had a wetsuit, I definitely got hypothermia which was a shock to me at the time and I didn't understand canyons back then.
